    Javert de Montfault

After harbouring feelings for a long time, Javert tries to get permission to court his best friend's sister, Miss Andromeda Parkinson. Her mother sets some tasks for him that he finds impossible and he gives up on his love. He cannot bear to face Andromeda, so he tries his best to avoid her.

The Head Auror goes missing and Javert is promoted to his position. While he is an excellent auror when he has a good leader over his head, he fails at being the leader himself. He finds his new work overwhelming and, as if that wasn't enough, it seem to be one of the Auror Office's least productive years.

In the meantime, he and his partner, Overstreet Richardson, work on a case involving murderous alchemists.

“Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
