A REALLY Unexpected Arrival - Norah Walsh - 05-29-2014

Everything was new here - it made Norah terribly homesick for Ireland, but she quickly shoved those thoughts out of her head. She was here for Nolan - her poor wronged brother. Where did she go wrong? Norah was generally good at telling a person's disposition and personality. She prided herself on it! Pursing her lips, she headed down High Street, a small scrap of parchment in her hand with the store's address written on it.

Today she had dressed in one of her better outfits, which was a lovely robins egg blue with darker blues here and there. Norah found it complimented her flaming red hair and pale skin without being too overbearing. She also figured it was one of her first days back, so it wouldn't do any harm to dress to the occasion - though it was unlikely anyone but Nolan would know it was the beginning of her stay back in Scotland.

Then again, Nolan wasn't exactly expecting Norah. She hoped he was there - he should be, he rarely left the shop he worked so hard! "Oh! Here we are!" Nora exclaimed, and tucked the piece of paper back into her satchel before opening the door. It was empty, much to her dismay. Norah looked around at the bolts of fabric and the displays. It certainly was well kept in here. But where was her brother? "Nolan?" she called softly. "Nolan are you here?"

RE: A REALLY Unexpected Arrival - Cassandra Trelawney I - 05-29-2014

The sound of a woman calling Nolan's name so familiarly made Cassandra's heart drop. She had not met Nolan's soon to be ex-wife, and while he did not want her back that did not mean that Mrs. Walsh felt the same way. Or it could be some other woman; there had been women come in just to look at him since the article announcing he was filing for divorce had come out.

More slowly than she usually would have, Cassandra came out from behind the tall rack where she had been working. The woman was taller than her, taller and younger and (in Cass's opinion) prettier. "Mr. Walsh isn't here," she said softly. "Can I help you?"

Norah smiled immediately when the other woman walked out. She was pretty, with darker skin than Norah, which made her jealous - Norah's pale skin was always a bother sometimes - the sun gave her too many freckles, and she would have loved for skin that looked as clear as the other woman's. Norah also happened to be taller than the woman, which irritated her - her bloody tall genes, why couldn't she be shorter and not stand out in the crowd? She often got looks for her height, though when she was with Nolan, it usually wasn't the issue - after all the crowd was too busy staring at Nolan's height rather than hers!

Norah placed her hands on the counter, stepping a bit closer. "Yes, would you happen to know where Mr. Walsh is?"she asked kindly, before tilting slightly to the side and peering around the seamstress to see if she could see her brother in the back room. She focused back on the woman and realizing she must seem extremely rude, flushed immediately. "Oh Merlin, I seem nosy, don't I? Please, allow me to explain myself - I am his sister, Miss Norah Walsh." The witch bobbed a curtsey before continuing. "It's my first week back from Ireland see, and I'm here to try and see if I can coax my brother out to a meal tonight."

Sister. That certainly explained things. For a moment Cassandra was relieved, and then she was alarmed. Sister! The sister of the man, the married man, that she was -- with -- was right in front of her.

Now that she knew the relation, Cassandra could see the similarities between Miss Walsh and Nolan. The hair color was similar, the skin tone ... although privately Cass thought that Nolan was prettier. Nolan was amazingly pretty, and --

And being distracted by thoughts of him wouldn't help at the moment.

"Mr. Walsh is off today," Cass answered, her cheeks pink. "I suppose he's likely home with the twins." Her blush deepened; should someone who was just a coworker and maybe a friend know about the twins? "If you want to see him, you'll have to go there."

"Off?" Norah repeated before sighing, closing her eyes. "That boy must learn to give me his proper schedule - else how am I supposed to pay him a visit?" Norah took the small piece of paper out again and furrowed her brow, examining it as if she'd find a clue as to why she'd gotten the day wrong there.

Apparently she was unsuccessful, seeing as she gave another sigh and put it back in her bag. She was not as distracted to not hear the seamstress, and she turned her attention back to her. "Do you know Nolan well?" she was curious. The way she phrased that sentence...'the twins' as opposed to 'his children' or 'his twins' - it made it seem like she'd met the twins. "Or my niece and nephew well, for that matter - you seem like you've met them before."

Cass blushed again; she really was giving herself away, wasn't she? She had met the twins, and they were complete darlings. "Mr. Walsh and I are friends," she said softly. She really didn't want to admit to admit to meeting the twins.

"I'm not certain he is at home," she said quickly, "but I do think that is your best chance of catching him. Otherwise you can come back tomorrow, he'll be here then."

RE: A REALLY Unexpected Arrival - Norah Walsh - 05-29-2014

Norah suddenly got the feeling this was becoming more and more her business with every passing second. Her eyes narrowed, though not unkindly. She was merely curious, and the other woman's blushes did not bode well for the conversation. Women did not blush when talking about their co-worker's children unless they had a personal tie to it.

Norah was not a simpleton, and she knew how to identify her brother's various types of blushes well enough to know that this woman's blush was not because she was merely feeling hot. The witch was suspicious and merely looked at the seamstress, waiting for a different answer than the one she had gotten. "May inquire as to whom I am speaking?" Her voice was again not unkind, but had a slight air of amusement to it.

"Cassandra," she said, hesitating on giving her surname -- but she would rather be the seer woman than have Miss Walsh be focused on the fact that mentions of Nolan and his children made her blush. Still reluctantly, she clarified, "Miss Cassandra Trelawney."

Hopefully Miss Walsh would hop onto what had happened so often and recognize her as that famous seer and then she might forget all about everything with Nolan. She was carrying Nolan's child and they wanted to wed; she did not want to give his sister a chance to decide she was loose.

RE: A REALLY Unexpected Arrival - Norah Walsh - 05-29-2014

Norah's eyes cleared up once she registered the name of the seamstress. Surely she could not be...but it wasn't that common of a name, was it? Trelawney...it must not have....yes, Trelawney the seer, Norah had heard about her. A new interest dawned on Norah's face. So, the woman whom Nolan worked with was a seer. Half of Norah wanted to bonk her brother on the head for not telling her, but the other half reasoned and told her that that would not be what Nolan first would describe a co-worker - if they even were "co-workers".

Norah raised an eyebrow and smiled again. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Trelawney," she said genuinely. "Pray tell, how long have you..worked with my brother? He's very quiet about his work life, you see, and I'd like to get a feel of what it is like in the shop. Such beautiful fabrics!" Norah coated her suspicious question with other pleasantries, but she was quite certain both she and Miss Trelawney knew which direction she wanted to take the conversation in.

RE: A REALLY Unexpected Arrival - Cassandra Trelawney I - 05-29-2014

"Actually in the shop, only for about a year and a half. A year and a half in July. I have been doing work for Gladrags when they needed extra hands since moving to Hogsmeade, but I didn't meet Mr. Walsh properly until I started actually working in the shop."

She was rambling a bit, which made Cassandra blush again. She already had learned that you could faint from that, and she did not want to discover if blushing too much could have similar effects. "Is there anything else? If you just got back to town I am sure Mr. Walsh will be eager to see you. He has been going through a great deal lately, what with Mrs. Walsh and all."

RE: A REALLY Unexpected Arrival - Norah Walsh - 05-29-2014

Miss Trelawney was certainly nice enough, and Norah liked her a lot - she was a lot like Nolan; it was hard to read her in some aspects, though with others [like Nolan] she was completely transparent. Norah could practically hear her brother pleading with her in her head to stop harassing the poor woman, which made Norah grin. It really was fun to play her little jokes on Nolan - Miss Trelawney, however was not Nolan, and therefor Norah gave in with a reluctant sigh. "It sounds as if we will be seeing each other a lot this next season, Miss Trelawney. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll go and see if my brother is at his home. It was a pleasure meeting you," Norah gave another bob and gathered her purse which she'd set on the counter before exiting the shop.
