Linus had managed to weasel his way out of moderating student duels until now and he wasn't best pleased about the change. He signed up to teach Alchemy, after all, not baby sit children who could barely tell one end of a wand from the other.

Reluctantly, he took his place, read out the rules, and then eyed the two students with mild annoyance. "Mr. Faulkner, please begin," he declared with a slight sigh.

Edgar felt rather mopey since his arrival at the school and wanted to branch out somewhat and to garner a better understanding of what Hogwarts was truly all about. He had wished his sister was around to bounce some of his ideas off of, however he absolutely could not refuse Fudge's company in place of hers and was glad to have someone there for him.

After Mr. Littimer finished speaking, Edgar preformed the proper decorum and worked to make his opponent float so as to disorient them.

His first duel—how exciting!

Privately, Elijah was quite relieved to be going up against another first year (and a Hufflepuff, no less!), for surely this put him on sound footing to win. After all, even the Slytherin was not so full of hubris that he thought he might have beaten a fifth year!

The young boy readied his stance and cast a shield charm when, in his opinion, the moment was right.

Linus fetched the floating boy back down with a short wave of his wand.
"Faulkner wins the first point, next to start is errr......Urquart." That was the boy's name, wasn't it?
