Dearest____,

I regret to inform you that after the terrible events that occurred at the Market in London yesterday we have received word that your Uncle Thaddeus was killed. I know you will all adhere to the appropriate mourning though I doubt anybody would associate us with him besides us sharing the same name - he was, as you know, rather different to your father and while I'm quite sure we will all be sufficiently somber I will understand if none of you are exactly overwhelmed with grief.

I am quite sure your cousin Killian is not and it is probably enough that we follow his lead in this. In any case I doubt your cousin Emma will snub us if you do not wear armbands for more than two months.
