WHY HELLO THERE.
J. Alfred Darrow is starting to get to the "England really sucks" point of his time being home and will therefore start lobbying for his next expedition relatively soon. we have all kinds of needs for that! Most positions can be filled either by new or existing characters. If you make them at this stage, we can thread out how they met Alfred or Paul and how they were convinced/recruited to join; you can also reserve one for some vague point in the future because for these I'm really flexible on reservation timelines~
WE ALSO NEED MONEY. There are several "levels" of sponsorship, and you get to name things / have things named after you if you give us your cash. The primary sponsor gets to rechristen the larger of the two ships going on the expedition (because his money will primarily be used to refurbish / stock that ship), secondary sponsor gets to rechristen the smaller ship (same reason). Other sponsors can claim the right to have any newly discovered land masses named after them (e.g. 'Pettigrew Bay' or 'Mount Dippet') but if they don't find anything new, you're kinda S.O.L.
Sponsors with particular interests could also donate specifically to one of the naturalists' causes to purchase equipment, supplies, etc, and could have something in that field named after them. It may not be glamorous but you might actually get to see it, if they bring back a specimen, whereas you're probably never going to see Mount Dippet except on a map. =P
Sponsors should be UC or the very high end of MC, but otherwise there's no requirements for them. It would be a good deal of fun for me if some of them had some very strongly held political opinions / ideas about the expedition that Alfred had to sort of dance around or avoid committing to. He'll take your money even if he thinks your ideas about native peoples or new creatures are a bit unethical and those would be fun threads xD
We are open to other participants besides those listed in the wanted ad, so throw your ideas at us if you're so inclined.
The expedition will attempt to leave in early spring, funding permitted, and return midway through the summer. With, we hope, far fewer shipwrecks than the last one.
Oh, these ships are also both traditional sailing ships vice the flying kind, if that makes any difference to anyone xD

Javert's dad would also donate some money. Or idk, buy them a bunch of fruit so they don't catch that sickness sailors get when they don't eat enough fruit and vegetables.
Elmer can donate some old map and old texts about King Arthur.

Roberto is willing to be a primary sponsor mostly because he needs more plotty things, stuff to throw his money at and this is something he'd go for. Can thread this! Not tagging him cause you know who he is :P

HELLO FRIENDS! I have put the wheels in motion for Alfred to come up with this expedition, so he'll be ready to solicit sponsors in the next week or so. I'll start and tag threads for Roberto, Marcus, and Elmer!
Crew/scientist recruitment threads can get rolling in November, but if anyone has particular ideas toss 'em at me. I'm up for pre-dating things if anyone feels strongly about getting a thread started but unless you say so I'll wait.

Oh this is totally up the Dempseys' alley, so Porphyria would definitely sponsor! And possibly pass on the info to Dad!Dempsey for extra money to donate. She would either be all 'name something macabre-looking after me' or just 'bring me back something cool' but I think the Dempseys would generally just be super interested in all the deets about Avalon if they found it :P
