Although he did not consider himself a bad dueler by any means, Lock had not entirely expected to make it this far into the tournament. With the Cannons still in the Quidditch playoffs, it just seemed like too much success all at once in his otherwise rather hectic and sometimes seemingly cursed life (and sometimes actually cursed life, but he was fairly certain he'd gotten rid of the last of Hatch's well-intentioned gifts by now).
After observing the necessary pleasantries with a noncommittal grunt, Lock cast a stinging hex.
