November 5th, 1882
Dear Mr. Pettigrew,

I am hosting a dinner party for Mr. Black's birthday on November twelfth and I should like it very much if you were to attend and the make the event a more enjoyable occasion. It shall begin at six thirty in the evening and dinner shall commence at seven thirty.

The invitation extends to your wife also if she is feeling well enough and should like to attend.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs. Black

My dear Mrs. Black,

My wife and I shall both be in attendence. I greatly look forward to meeting your husband in a more intimate setting. Ought we to bring a birthday gift?

My dear Mrs. Black,

I shall have to ponder what sort of a gift to give him; I very much doubt that he shall appreciate my taste in perfume.

Yours,

Thomas Pettigrew

Dear Mr. Pettigrew,

No, I too doubt he would. I wore one of your perfumes to my brother's wedding and he failed to notice, you know. Perhaps a book?

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs. Black
