    OCTOBER 25TH, 1885

On the 22nd of this month, a woman was reported to have been found floating along the shores of the Black Lake, just a short distance away from where Mr. Timothy Sprout and his fiancée were taking their afternoon stroll together. Mr. Sprout claims to have waded through the water in order to save the young woman, though it’s unfortunate to say that she had already perished by the time he’d reached her and, according to the Healers who had been brought to the scene, had been dead for quite some time prior to her discovery.

Jane Doe, as she is now referred to, lies at Hogsmeade Hospital where Healers and investigators alike are looking into her mysterious death. While the woman’s clothes suggests that she was reasonably well-off, there’s nothing else on her person to identify who she was,
if she had any family, or even if she had held any sort of occupation in her previous life -- though Healers have recently affirmed that her death was not the result of poison or any direct attack on her life, making it entirely possible that suicide had been the cause.

Jane Doe is in possession of thick dark hair and brown eyes with a complexion that had, at one point, been considered fair. When found, she had been wearing a light-gray gown topped with a brown winter coat. If readers have any information regarding the woman’s identity, they are encouraged to report to the hospital where Healers and investigators would be more than happy for even just a small detail of the victim’s life.
