    JUNE 7 1887

With Her Majesty Queen Victoria scheduled to visit Hogsmeade in two days hence, the buzz in many a tearoom has circulated around what this means for the village, and what Wizarding Britain might expect of the days to come.

"The renewed bonds with the crown will have little impact on the day-to-day life of most of our community," Minister of Magic Balthaqzar Urquart reiterated yesterday. "It is the overall tone of our existence that will be shifted, for the better, rather than how that existence is carried out."

In spite of the Minister's insistences, our young ladies, at the very least, will see an immediate change: with the queen in Hogsmeade and a lavish ball held in her you our comes the opportunity for young witches to be presented before her for the first time in more than a decade! Invitations have already been sent to parties fortunate enough to be in attendance, and debs are reminded to bring out their best whites as they re-launch upon society with Her Majesty's blessing.

"Security is paramount, and so invitations will be collected at the door," explained a spokeswizard for the Auror Office. "If not handed over by the individual for whom it was intended, the invite will turn completely blank, thus ensuring no one attends who was not previously cleared by our office."

Other security measures at the ball will include a wand-checking programme and several aurors in attendance as the Ministry works round the clock to avoid a repeat of the incident that saw our segregation in the first place.

Those not blessed with an invitation may still enjoy the revelry. Late Thursday morning will see a royal procession and parade down Hogsmeade's High Street open to all, and Friday afternoon will launch a week-long carnival in Padmore Park.

But of course, the most notable element of Her Majesty's arrival is the lowering of the wards upon Hogsmeade itself, a feat that has never previously been performed - though they were heightened during the Laughing Plague. Those readers with muggle friends and relations will be pleased to know that they may finally show off their homes and community to those individuals with little issue: will increased Auror and obliviator presence throughout Hogsmeade will surely be noted, such visitors will be permitted to wander as freely as any citizen and will find themselves transported outside our borders before the wards go up once more.
