So following the scandal allegations in Witch Weekly recently, Ophelia rage!quit Rose & Thistle. Your R&T member would definitely know this as of today, and other society ladies will probably hear it through the grapevine sooner or later.
Ophelia is interested in starting a new ladies' club that suits her needs more, but in order to do that she'd need some other interested parties because even she isn't persuasive enough to get Armando to back the whole thing by himself. =P The working title is The Phoenix Society, because Ophelia feels quite the martyr for having had to endure the company of a scandalous woman in her past and this is a RISE FROM THE ASHES moment. But she's open to suggestions.
Ideally, this wouldn't just be a straight replacement of R&T, and staying a member of the other club wouldn't preclude you from joining The Phoenix Society. The vision for this is that it would primarily be wives/widows (though it wouldn't be closed to debutantes, they're just not the focus) and it would be a more active ladies' club. They'd have a tea room set up to loiter/gossip/do the same things that people do in other ladies' clubs, but the real draw is that Ophelia is hoping to have this be a group that sponsors events and basically gives those who are no longer focusing all their attentions on finding a man something to do.
If she can get it off the ground, I'd like there to be at least one member event per month. Think weekend country trips for horseback riding, luncheons in fashionable areas of London, tennis tournaments, photography lessons, charity events, fun married lady shit. Things to do with your married women other than go to balls.
In order to make it happen she'd need at least three other "founding members". These would be upper class ladies, preferably married/soon to be so. They'd also be in the market for a middle class "society manager" who would handle coordination and get the word out about events--sort of like a volunteer position but maybe you get some small degree of payment, idk. The manager would be the person responsible for finding them a venue for their tea room and hiring/managing staff so should have some experience as the head of household or what have you.
Ideally, this would be something women could do either in addition to or instead of membership in one of the established clubs. Ophelia really wants to avoid it having the reputation R&T has of 'not good enough for TLM but too good for DoD' or being known as 'the R&T replacement.'
Membership requirements are flexible depending on who the other founding members are and if they have strong feelings about things! Ophelia's requirements would be that members do not work, except in a 'from home' capacity (she might flex on that to include welcome witches/that sort of thing but right now she's anti-working-women) and that they have good reputation (4 stars for eccentricity/family weirdness would be fine, but any scandal that affects reputation would be a non-starter).
Coordination can either take place via letter over the next month (if Ophelia already knows your character) or in person when she gets back from the holiday in December!
Tagging main accounts for R&T members and others I think might be interested: @'Ursula Black' @'Cassius Lestrange' @'Ellory Pendergast' @'Aldous Crouch' @'Valeria Greengrass' @'Elias Grimstone' @'Elsie Beauregard' @'Clarissa Cosgrove' @'Imogen MacFusty' @'Helena Macmillan' @'Aurelia Wallingford' @'Annabelle Scrimgeour' @'Aeror' @'Leander Grantham' @'Emmeline Woodcroft' @'Veronica Gallivan' @'Hannah Pettigrew' @'Gertrude Baker'
