The day of her departure had finally arrived and she was waiting for the other shoe to drop. She had wanted to escape before Christmas, before she had a chance to see Thomas Pettigrew at his quidditch party but Phineas had all but forbidden it. Now, however, she was free to go and while she might be telling herself that she would be back in a couple months at most, her subconscious was rather attached to the idea of it being a more permanent thing which was evident from her lack of a fixed return date.
Also by the fact that she intended to bring Belvina with her. She wanted very much to bring Sirius too but she expected Phineas would be far more inclined to retrieve her if she absconded with his heir. Not to mention, Sirius would be starting school in autumn and unless she wanted to deprive him of it then he he had to stay behind. It might seem like a selfless decision but the nub of it was that she didn't want a adult son with the intelligence and social skills of a ten year old.
She was due to leave within the hour and she was mostly ready now - she only had to say goodbye to Sirius and then fetch Belvina. First was Sirius. She'd sent word to his tutor to stop his lessons before lunch early and so she sought out his room expecting to find him there unoccupied. Ursula knocked on the door gently with her right hand -
her left being occupied by clasping a pair of scissors - and admitted herself. "Sirius?"
