Buddy System What is the buddy system? The buddy system's purpose is to help newbies feel more comfortable with navigating and understanding the many layers of Charming. Throughout the years we've been around, we have developed quite a lot of information on site lore, canon details and more! It can be overwhelming for a new member to come into something so large, which is why the buddy system has been formulated. The buddy system relies on a group of members who volunteer to help newbies in navigation, understanding, threading, plotting and integration into Charming. How does it work? Once a character application that has been created by a newbie has been accepted, they will automatically be assigned a volunteer that best matches their needs. Assigning will be done by the Buddy System Leader. The volunteer is then responsible for contacting their new buddy, informing them of the system and inquire as to whether they would be interested in the assistance of it. A step-by-step guide will be written up to help keep volunteers organized and to know what all they should cover with their newbie. How can I become a volunteer? — First, you must meet some requirements: Activity requirements are to respond to their buddy's questions/concerns within 24 hours and to their posts within 24-72 hours i.e. 1 - 3 days. — If a volunteer goes on absence, they are responsible for contacting their buddy to let them know and introduce a temporary replacement through the other volunteers (with the help of the Buddy System Leader.) — Must be a member for at least 3 months. Those who have been a member for less than 3 months are considered eligible for signing up for a buddy. Once those 3 months are up, they graduate from the program and can become a volunteer themselves! — Fill out the following form and PM it to the Buddy System Leader: Code: [b]Name:[/b] [b]Main Account:[/b] [b]Playable Time Zones:[/b] (Time zone that you can RP with. This can either be ones that are similar to your own, or others for those night owls/off hours members.) [b]Playable Usergroups and Social Classes:[/b] (Which usergroups and social classes do you currently have) [b]# of Requested Buddies:[/b] (How man buddies can you handle at one time? It is recommended that volunteers start off with one or two at a time and go from there due to the activity requirements.) The Benefits of Volunteering You will get to play an important role in Charming's development. New members are full of new ideas, new characters and new plots. They can help keep Charming fresh and exciting! You'll gain new people to thread and plot with, and will be able to take pride in assisting a newbie into a happy and confident full-fledged member. For organizational purposes, volunteers of the buddy system will have access to their own subforum where the step-by-step guide, threading/plotting ideas and troubleshooting/support from other volunteers will be found. To help newbies locate those who participate in the buddy system, volunteers will also have their own icon underneath their usergroup (just like what the staff, gossipmongering hags and prefects have.)
