"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
Hot soup is certainly a useful recipe for these cold winter months!
Recipe for Clear Gravy Soup Ingredients:
Two pounds of shin beef
Half a pound of lean gravy beef
One large carrot
One small turnip
One stalk of celery
Three pints of water
Whites and shells of two eggs
Two sprigs of parsley
A bunch of sweet herbs
One bay leaf
One teaspoonful of peppercorns
One teaspoonful of salt
Remove all the fat from the beef and cut up into small pieces, then place in a pan with cold water and the salt; bring slowly to the boil and skim thoroughly then add the vegetables which have been previously chopped up. Brown the onions in their skins then add to the pan together with the herbs, parsley, bay leaf and peppercorns. Simmer very slowly for four hours, when cold strain and remove any fat. Beat together in a quarter of a pint of water and add to the pan the whites and shells of two eggs, together with the lean beef which has been finely shredded.
Place the soup over a gentle heat and whisk until it comes to a boil, allow the scum to rise to the top of the pan, cover and remove from the heat and allow to stand for ten minutes. Place a linen towel over a wire sieve then pour a pint of boiling through, then the soup, if the soup is not clear pour through the towel again. At this point season to taste, a glass of wine may be added to improve the taste; additional pre-cooked [including a little salt] thinly sliced vegetables may be added, together with peas and cauliflower. Gently re-heat if necessary.
Mr. Honeyduke was born April 6th, 1857, making him an Aries.
He has one younger sister, Miss Emery Honeyduke, who is a florist in Irvingly.
He was born in Dover, where his family had their own sweet shop.
During his time at Hogwarts, Mr. Honeyduke was a Hufflepuff!
He inherited his confectioner’s skills from his father, a muggle, Mr. Gordon Honeyduke, who sadly recently passed.
The first Honeyduke’s Sweet Shop opened in Diagon Alley in early 1876.
Mr. Honeyduke opened the High Street location in the summer of 1877.
Caramel is his favorite sweet, but he also enjoys Fizzing Wizzbees!
He admits that Halloween is his favorite holiday!
It turns out that for the month he was missing last February, Mr Honeyduke was in fact the duck haunting the shop, but he won’t give any details as to what happened!
Honeyduke’s is painted orange, Mr. Honeyduke’s favorite color!.In school, Mr Honeyduke used to ask his roommate to try his creations!
The Pettigrew Wedding! It would be difficult to forget the unusual, very public proposal Mr. Arthur Pettigrew made to his teammate, Miss Desdemona Collins-Potter, made after one victorious match last June. Such a memorable proposal has to be followed by an equally memorable wedding, and the two Howlers chasers certainly delivered on that count!
Mr. Pettigrew has finally settled down! In an appropriate homage to what was no doubt the beginnings of their courtship, the Howlers pitch in Irvingly was the chosen venue. The ceremony was performed on broomsticks, with the wedding party and guests given the option to fly or observe from the stands. The bride wore a set of simple, but elegant white dress robes robe for the occasion -- a sensible choice, given the setting!
After the ceremony, a platform was levitated to provide refreshments and dancing, accessible by broomstick or apparition. It should come as no surprise, given the many ties to the quidditch league the couple share, that a friendly match broke out towards the end of the event!
A Collins-Potter no longer! Guests included Quidditch notables from every team in Wizarding Britain, such as Fitzroy Prewett, Georgianna and Louisa Shacklebolt, and Gilroy MacFusty, as well as sponsors and their families, such as the Burkes of the Wimborne Wasps.
The new Mrs. Desdemona Pettigrew is the daughter of Mrs. Perpetua Collins-Potter, herself a former Holyhead Harpies chaser, and the late Huxley Collins-Potter, and one of seven siblings and half-siblings. Mr. Arthur Pettigrew is the only son of the late Mr. Leonardo Pettigrew and Mrs. Andromache Pettigrew.
All in all, it was a happy event to be remembered even outside the Quidditch-heavy social circles. We at Witch Weekly wish the newlyweds every happiness, and hope their marriage is as flawless as their quidditch careers!
