Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 01-25-2016 24 January 1886
"Poor Miss Fisk," she said, folding the day's paper in half and placing it on the table beside her. "I do hope they find her unscathed. First poor Mrs Potter, now Miss Fisk. I hope the cases aren't related!" table code by stef <3

Xena's disappearance had been the first reason for Eva's sickeningly good mood to be ruined. She could not possibly gush about her Frederick when one of her dearest friends was missing! Miss Xena was a smart, sensible woman - obviously she'd not eloped! Which left one option; she'd been kidnapped, and she was probably being tortured in someone's dark dungeon as we speak! Oh, it was horrible, truly horrible! RE: Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 01-25-2016 24 January 1886

How could Cordelia ask such a thing? Granted, the tone of her voice had hardly been accusatory or gossipy, but Eva was still displeased that someone might even think that Xena had disappeared with a beau. Her friend would never do that! So what if she was a bit old and middle class? She had a sensible head on her shoulders, she wouldn't risk ruining herself to pull a Lydia Bennet! RE: Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 01-31-2016 24 January 1886
It took all of Cora's strength to not roll her eyes at Eva's shock and protest. Honestly, she wasn't accusing Miss Fisk of such antics, but it was hardly her fault that that would be what society thought of Miss Fisk. Reaching over, she patted Eva's hand in an attempt to be comforting before withdrawing it. "Now now, Eva," she said calmly. "You know I don't think that she would commit such a heinous action." In reality she kind of did, but she wasn't about to reveal that to Eva. Plus, she knew Miss Fisk at Hogwarts and they got along well – she'd hardly be the one to start rumors or even participate in them once Miss Fisk was found.
"Some of the standards women are subject to nowadays are absolutely medieval, if you ask me." And she wasn't saying that just to remedy her comment that had merited such a reaction from Eva. It did frustrate her that even her brothers were talking about poor Miss Fisk in such a way. Sometimes they coudl be assholes so could Cora herself, but she wasn't about to go revealing that to the world, now was she? She greatly admired those women like Mrs Pendergast and Madame Flint who paved the way for women to be able to have careers and be respectable. Cora herself was hardly going to let a man tell her what to do with her career.

Well, it was nice that Cordelia wasn't accusing Xena of being a hussy. Eva was too distressed, so not in a mood to really fight. Besides. She liked Cordelia. She didn't want to fight with her. RE: Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 02-01-2016 24 January 1886
Cora laughed. If that happened, certainly they would all be in trouble and Hogsmeade wouldn't have very many (decent) women in society! Though they all liked to claim they didn't gossip or do anything obscene, to Cora, it seemed that everybody did it. "Perhaps, but not enough if you ask me." she replied, sitting back, putting a hand over her book. "I would like women to be able to participate more in society, like voting. I believe we have just as many rights to voice our opinions on our leaders as men do." It wasn't as if she was talking nonsense, after all. There had been some talk of women's inequality, though Cora herself hardly was going to be the first one to battle it out on the streets.

Although Eva agreed with many of the points those so called Suffragettes raised, she refrained from being vocal about it. She really was no rebel by nature. She'd happily help a cause if it was close to victory, but not before that. RE: Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 02-09-2016 Like Eva, Cora was thinking of Ministers Flint and Orpington, in addition to Mrs Pendergast. Each had contributed in a positive way to society yet each had managed to remain respectable in the eyes of the public – though Minister Orpington's son had married a mudblood, Cora still had to give the woman props for contributing to society in ways that Cora herself dreamed of. They had direction and knew how to be a wife as well as a functioning member of society. "Quite right," she replied contentedly. "Though I would hardly go as far as to form a union. Let the importance of women be shown the right way." WORDS: 109

"Of course," Eva agreed. "It is only the way of socialists, I feel, to go to extremes for the sake of a cause." All they managed to accomplish was hurt people and make fools of themselves. Women would never gain rights if they sought them violently. I apologize for the short shittiness that is this post >.< RE: Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 03-09-2016 Cora nodded in agreement. The conversation had run it's course but she enjoyed Eva's conversation and had yet to ask her about her recent courting. Folding her hands in her lap, she smiled, "Now I hear that you've just begun a courtship? How exciting for you! Is he very amiable?" she inquired, hoping she'd found a man with whom she got along with. While Cora herself approved of arranged marriages, she thought it was always preferable to find someone with whom at least one got along and agreed. From what she'd heard, Eva was so lucky to find such a match, but one could never trust rumors too much. WORDS: 109

RE: Hello – It's Me - Eva Sleptova - 03-13-2016 This new topic of conversation was so much more exciting! Eva immediately perked up. She could think and talk about her courtship with Freddie for hours. Not that she would actually do it, of course. People would make all sorts of talks, because Merlin forbid someone was in love and dared to show it! "Lord Corcrest is indeed very amiable," Eva confirmed. Miss Burke had clearly not met her Frederick, otherwise she wouldn't be asking that question! Needless to say that Eva viewed her beau as the most amiable, most handsome and most overal perfect man that had ever walked upon this earth. "I couldn't ask for a better start of the year!" She wanted to say more about how happy Freddie made her, but she was superstitious enough to beware of the Bad Eye. Miss Burke was not yet courting, as far as Eva knew, so she could feel jealous and give her the Bad Eye even unintentionally... "And what about you, Miss Burke? Any lucky gentlemen?" RE: Hello – It's Me - Cordelia Burke - 03-15-2016 Eva's sudden enthusiasm at the change of topic made Cora smile. How lovely, she seemed quite the girl in love. Cora hoped she considered herself a lucky woman - that wasn't always the case with most ladies, and for Cora herself, she could only hope she would be content with the man she would marry. If there wasn't to be any affection in her future marriage, she would transfer that to her children – despite not feeling the motherly type, it was inevitable for children to be in her future, and thus she had resigned to that possibility. Again with the muggle titles...what was with magic folk and their fascination with such silly labels? Despite this, of course she was slightly jealous that Eva had started a courtship. Cora insisted on remaining on the positive side - there was still time, and at least she wasn't as old as poor Miss Lovegood. Spurned not once but twice! At least the second time was a courtship and not a betrothal. "Unfortunately no," she said wistfully, though kept a pleasant expression on her face. "I do remain hopeful though, and it sounds like you've made yourself quite a match." She smiled. "I hope you and him are very happy together!" WORDS: 206
