Fun times and funnel cake! - Charlotte Lucas - 08-24-2016

An adult please!!

Charlotte was thouraghly enjoying the fair, with all of the different cultures and peoples represented she was strongly reminded of her days with Phillip, when they had travelled through foreign markets and bazaars, so he could spread the ‘good news’ to heathens – Lottie had never really been sure that she believed in the God that he was so adamant had been sent to save man kind –the stories sounded to Lottie very much more like a breach of the international statute of secrecy than miracles, but she had loved the fervour with which he had believed and the passion he had shown in his mission.

For Charlotte, her husband’s death was a dull and faded pain, she remembered him fondly but she no longer grieved for him- her work had helped, the business of day to day life in the ministry had helped her not to dwell, to move on and live her life for herself once more and not a saddened memory.

This was not the place to dwell on sadder thougths, and time that had long since passed, she was young (at least still relatively so), it was the season, and there were still many gay and amusing things to be seen and done. However, she regretted not asking for some company, either one of her friends, or even the house maid, as with all pleasures, it seemed better enjoyed with company.

Still, it was going to spoil her day, and as she loitered in front of the ‘Hall of horrors’ – she saw what she assumed was another solo visitor who also seemed interested in the attraction, and tapping them on the shoulder she asked ’Pardon my boldness, but if you are looking to fill your car for the attraction I’d rather volunteer’. It was rather bold of her to strike up such a conversation but she was bored and very disinclined to remain so – and the attraction attendant had been disinclined to ride alone – and she wasn’t sure if it was her gender or the desire for 2 fares that motivated the young carnie.

RE: Fun times and funnel cake! - Innocent Howell - 08-28-2016

Innocent was enjoying herself at this fair. There were so many things to see and do! Maybe she'd find a husband in one of the foreign visitors? It was an idle idea and not one that she was fully flourishing in her mind. She just wanted to have fun!

She was with an ever present chaperone who had declined to go on the Hall of Horrors. Innocent's chaperone pleaded feeling a tad tired and wishing a rest but Innocent just thought she was too scared to try a place called 'Hall of Horrors'. Even still, she did not want to go alone for it would be no fun without someone to squeal and laugh right along with her!

Feeling a tap on her shoulder, she turned and recognized Mrs. Lucas. Not that they had been very close chums but they had been in the same year at Hogwarts and Innocent tended to vaguely remember most people that had been in her year. "That would be splendid! I was just lamenting on how boring it would be to go it alone." Perhaps she'd even come out of the experience with a new friend. How grand that would be!

While she and Miss Howell, might not have spoken much since they left school – the joy of Hogwarts and its very small classes meant that it was possible to have been reasonable friends with most of the people in your year – at least for those that wished to be friends. Since leaving school – miss Howell as an upperclass woman had certain expectations that Charlotte had not be subject to – something for which she was very thankful. She had met, and married a good man – someone who was kind, considering and who loved. There was nothing in her life she had been ‘forced’ to do. She coulnd’t speak for Miss Howell, but she had known other upper class girls who were had been required to marry in order to make political alliances.

’It is lovely to see you again Miss Howell, after all this time’ Charlotte said honestly, ’I am not long returned to Hogemeade and so have not had the opportunity to enquire about too many of my old school mates.’ she said with an honest smile. Her work with Philip had taken her to all parts of the globe, she had seen wonderful things, and being home still felt strange. The que for the house of horrors was moving nicely, and it woulnd’t be long before it was their turn.

"It is, I quite agree," Innocent said, just as honestly, when Mrs. Lucas commented on how it was lovely to see her again. Innocent's social circle mainly consisted of those of her kind - upper class debutantes with a couple of socialites mixed in.

"I've heard talk that you've come to settle right here in Irvingly," Innocent commented in friendly curiosity. "I hope your neighbors are treating you well?" Innocent knew quite well that some of the muggles of Irvingly weren't quite so thrilled with their magical neighbors but luckily, most seemed to be civil enough in her admittedly terribly small experience with Irvingly as a whole.
