Strange Magic - Philip Aymslowe - 09-01-2016

August 7th @ the Fairgrounds
@'Vanessa Fudge'
Philip was as content as could be with Miss Fudge by his side. It was a lovely Friday afternoon as they wandered through the fairground. Philip didn't have a mind for being overly competitive and he'd thought nothing of purchasing some fudge from the Honeydukes stall. "Would you care for some of your namesake, Miss Fudge? Philip asked with a bit of a chuckle as they settled at a bench.

Mr. Aymslowe was the one for her, and Nessie just needed to get him to figure out that she was the one for him. It was clearly a perfect match, so perfect that there had even been the rumor that they might already be courting before she had come out, but she had yet to bring him to that point more than two months later. It was the most frustrating situation, for all that she cherished every moment she spent with the man she intended to marry.

"Yes, please, Mr. Aymslowe," she said as she took a seat beside him. Nessie didn't even mind the source; she was just glad to be out (properly chaperoned) with Mr. Aymslowe! She looked up at him through her lashes, found her best to be demure and tempting all at once. Flirting was hard, especially when your target could be utterly oblivious.

Philip smiled at her agreement and opened the box of fudge he had been holding. Offering one to her, he offered one to her chaperone (who politely declined) and then took a piece for himself. "There we are," he stated merrily. As usual, he was oblivious to her flirting and if he'd bothered to take notice at all, even Miss Fudge's chaperone was mildly exasperated. Taking a bite of his fudge, he closed his eyes briefly as he enjoyed the rich, sweet flavor.

The fudge was lovely, although Nessie would always loyally prefer her father's to Mr. Honeyduke's. As she ate it, however, a stage sense of desperation overtook her. Would Mr. Aymslowe ever realize that she truly had feelings for him? He seemed painfully unaware of his own feelings, and she was sure that this was mutual!

She scooted a little closer to him with a guilty glance to her chaperone, then shyly slid her hand into his. How could she ever hope to truly catch his eye? They should be married by now, or at least engaged; instead she had not even asked her father's permission to properly pay court to her! Silent tears gathered in her eyes, and a quiet sob escaped before she could prevent it. Hastily she turned away to dab at her eyes with her handkerchief, her other hand still boldly tucked in his.

Philip smiled as he continued gazing at Miss Fudge. She was so beautiful. Had he really never noticed the glint in her eyes before. He wondered this as she slid her hand into his own which brought some color to his cheeks. Oh wait, those were tears. "Whatever is the matter, Miss Fudge?" He asked obliviously though also quite distressed himself.

"Oh, Mr. Aymslowe, I'm afraid you might think it quite untoward were I to say." What if he wished only to be her friend, or worse if he did fancy her and her outburst here changed his mind? Oh, she'd die! "I am so very sorry; I don't want to ruin our outing!"

RE: Strange Magic - Philip Aymslowe - 09-02-2016

"I could never think such things of you, my dear Miss Fudge!" Philip exclaimed, perhaps inappropriately amused. "Nothing you could do could ruin our outing for I am happy just for the chance to be by your side." Wut? It was things he had been thinking for a long while but not things he would ever actually say.

His words lent her strength, and Nessie turned to smile up at Mr. Aymslowe through her glistening tears. "Oh, my sweet Mr. Aymslowe, it is just - I fear you may think of me as a friend only."

RE: Strange Magic - Philip Aymslowe - 09-02-2016

"Never, my darling! Why, I had planned to ask you if you would mind terribly were I to ask your father to grant me permission to pay court." It wasn't the smoothest courtship delivery but ey, it was Philip.

RE: Strange Magic - Vanessa Fudge - 09-07-2016

He called her his darling! Nessie looked up at him with wonder and adoration in her teary eyes, and for a moment's she couldn't quite speak. Once she found her voice, she cried out, "Oh yes, yes Mr. Aymslowe! Nothing would make me happier!" She wanted so badly to be his wife.

Philips heart soared with joy. "I shall call on him on the morrow," he stated with a bright, happy smile upon his face. Oh, he would kiss her but for the ever stern eye of her chaperone upon them, he would not.

RE: Strange Magic - Vanessa Fudge - 09-09-2016

Oh wonderful, glorious day! Nessie beamed; she would allow a kiss were he to dare one, but she did know that it was best for both of them to restrain themselves. "Then tomorrow will be even finer a day than today."
