we rate the societry ladies at the Dippet birthday bash!
Dippet Birthday Bash: Best Dress List! ! Miss Aurelia Vernon
Miss Vernons time as a Pendergast Rose has clearly given her many lady like airs and graces, but her fashion sense has certainly been refined by her time at the school. Her wistful, and airy style was a breath of fresh air and a true harbinger of spring. Her dress was the epitome of this seasons Parisian spring fashions and the young lady should be complimented on being so fashion forward for the season, although the colour choice did wash her out a little.
Fashion score: 7/10
Miss Ginevra Blackwood
Mrs Blackwoods deep green gown is perhaps a little more formal than the Chudley canon chaser is used to being seen in. While the dress was indeed very pretty it was a little obvious that the gown was a season out of fashion, and even the young ladies red hair could not salvage the look in comparison with the other ladies at the ball.
Fashion score: 4/10
Miss Dippets Winning Smile!
Miss Ophelia Dippet
Miss Dippet truly did her uncle proud at his birthday ball! Her magnificent gown lit up the room and was the envy of many a young lady, and indeed caught the notice of many young gentlemen. Miss Dippets beautiful dark locks were tastefully arranged in the latest style and tastefully decorate to bring out the best in the young ladies gown. We can confidently name her belle of that particular ball! Not that we would expect anything less from witch weeklys own fashion guru.
Fashion Score: 9/10

What Pet Is Right For You?
There is nothing quite so wonderful as the companionship of a beloved pet, but of course trying to obtain one can be quite stressful. You must keep in mind how much time and energy you are willing to exert on its care, as well as what sorts of activities you intend to do with your pet--as well as what sort of image you want to project to others! Use our quiz to help you determine the perfect pet!
Your ideal leisure day consists of...
A) Lounging at home with a book or some needlework
B) Playing with my children, or going outdoors to walk
C) Attending tea parties, and maybe even a ball!
D) Leisure days? I haven't had a proper one in ages!
Your friends might describe you as...
A) Steadfast
B) Spontaneous
C) Elegant and Tasteful
D) A bit of a mess, really
While at Hogwarts, you had a pet...
A) Toad - it was my parents' idea
B) Owl, because they're useful
C) Cat, because it seemed the most feminine
D) My parents didn't think I could handle a pet
You envision spending time with your new pet by...
A) Cuddling up with him/her on the sofa
B) Taking him/her out to explore the neighborhood
C) Showing him/her off to my friends
D) Playing hide and seek with it?
An ideal name for a new pet might be...
A) Reginald
B) A descriptive word, like Snowy or Loon
C) Something elegant, with lots of vowel, like Eponine
D) Named after my grandfather
If you answered... Mostly As: You're looking for comfort, first and foremost. An ideal pet for you will be something loyal and rather low-maintenance, like a larger breed of dog, a cat, an owl, or a kneazle. These types of pets will stay by your side through thick and thin--but won't do much else, which is a relief for you!
Mostly Bs: You're an adventure seeker, and you need a pet who can keep up with your energy level. Small dogs, certain breeds of owls, and somewhat more unusual animals like ferrets may be good choices for you. Consider whether you plan to do any traveling (or even large amounts of walking) and choose your pet accordingly. If you live in the country, a horse, pegasus, or hippogriff would also be an excellent choice!
Mostly Cs: You are obviously a woman of taste and means! Since you'll have others to attend to your pet's more minor needs, your primary concern should be the image you're projecting. Think about a more exotic pet, like a large, colorful variety of bird, or some sort of tropical jungle animal you can keep in a specially made conservatory in the back yard. You may not get much cuddling time, but imagine the envy on your friend's faces when you tell them you've brought home a miniature tiger!
Mostly Ds: Perhaps it's best if you don't get a pet, at this point in your life.

Around the World in 18 Minutes: 250 Years of Armando Dippet
March 27th was the 250th birthday of Wizengamot member and former Hogwarts Charms professor, Armando Dippet. Born in the first half of the 17th century, it is fair to say that the world has changed drastically since Mr. Dippet's youth. While by no means the eldest wizard alive, Mr. Dippet is certainly close to it and 250 would be a landmark birthday for anyone. To celebrate, Mr. Dippet's descendant and ward, Miss Ophelia Dippet, arranged an extravagant and impressive birthday party. However, as many may have heard, the opulence of the party was not the only surprise that evening.
A sketch of the bear on a unicycle. The Dippet residence was masterfully charmed, conjured, and transfigured into a number of different eras and exotic locations from Egypt to Siberia.
Welcoming guests to the party was a magnificent bear on a unicycle which we're fairly certain was a real bear. Not so real but perfectly convincing were the vivid conjurations of magical and mundane beasts such as dragons, lions, and phoenixes.
The ballroom was transformed into a Siberian experience with a string quartet and snowflakes falling from the ceiling, an strange thing to bear witness to when the rest of the room was as warm as any other.
Exotically exotic canapés! Similarly, the Egyptian area lacked the unbearable heat of the real Egypt which was a great relief as sweating is most unseemly at a party. In China one could marvel at the Chinese New Year celebrations and The Great Wall in miniature (all four feet of it). The United States and South America could also be found in other parts of the house and were just as awe-inspiring. Other features of note were the delectably exotic canapés on offer according to the environment in which they were served, the quaint little faux boat ride across the "Atlantic".
The entire event was of great credit to Miss Dippet's ingenuity and party planning abilities. However, there was one surprise of the evening that she did not plan and that was most unfortunate incident regarding her grandfather. Mr. Dippet most unfortunately had a heart attack at his own birthday party – one might consider it a testament to how exemplary Miss Dippet's decorative abilities are.
Fortunately, Mr. Dippet survived his heart attack and is recovering well. We expect to see many more birthdays to come, though we wonder how any future parties could possibly live up to the spectacle of the other week. Certainly for anyone who could not attend, we lament your misfortune in missing a truly unique and unrepeatable birthday celebration that we sadly only scratched the surface of. One simply had to be there.

Debutante season is almost here! Is it for you?
Advice from Harmony Aidsworth Dear Miss Aidsworth,
I confess that your article about career women has made me take pause in decided my own future. I will debut this season myself but as I finish up my schooling I wonder; is it really for me? I pride myself in my studies and do rather well. With all of the effort I am putting in, will I be wasting it by simply taking the route I am on and becoming strictly a debutante? Will the season really afford me what I am looking for in life? I cannot say I will be completely content to simply be a housewife some day because obviously I have never done it! But if I were to become a healer or a maybe even a governess I would be making a difference! It’s very hard for me to choose! Please help!
Sincerely,
A Hesitating Hufflepuff
Dear Hesitating Hufflepuff,
When you envision your future, what is it that you see? If you can see yourself being happy as a housewife and mother, perhaps you should give the season a fair shot. The first season is to truly learn the ropes and get your feet wet. It is unlikely, unless you are an extremely lucky girl, that anything substantial will come of it. It may take two or three seasons to truly get the hang of it and that in and of itself is quite the job!
However, if you can envision yourself teaching or becoming a healer, internships have limited spaces available and you will miss your shot for the year if you do not take it straight away. There is nothing wrong with wanting to fill your days with an admirable occupation, so if you find yourself dreading idle chit chat and balls, then perhaps this would be the best route for you.
You could, if you have the patience, partake in the season this year to see if it is to your liking and then come the end of summer, make your decision then. Of course family values and parental guidance should also be considered. It will all be for naught if you wind up battling your family over you choice. On the other side of that coin, I have always been a believer of doing what makes you the most happy.
Best of Luck!
Harmony Aidsworth
