Miss Phoebe Beauregard twirled a lone curl of blonde hair as she sat at the Hufflepuff Table in the Great Hall that morning, a cup of tea and a slice of toast situated in front of her, waiting to be consumed. Any person whom knew Phee quite well would recognize the pensive - which was rather out of place due to her constant bubbly and smiling nature - expression across her face, which meant that she was deep in thought. Of course, it was not odd that one would find Phoebe deep within the confines of her conscience, but they would most certainly be astonished at the direction her thoughts had unfortunately taken.

Indeed, Hogwarts had always been a particularly wonderful place to her and she could not fathom never returning to the majestic place of learning, but for some unascertained reason she could not help but feel that the educational institution was beginning to hold very little meaning to her. Of course, she thoroughly believed that education was essential to every person's life should they desire to make something of themselves, but in Phee's opinion, a person who desired to expand their education after their fifth year either wanted to receive a high position of power (Ministry and hospital occupations, most specifically) or because they simply enjoyed learning. For Phoebe, her desires were a little divergent from a regular student's. She had absolutely no occupational goals (or at least none of the occupations that requires an N.E.W.T) nor did she have any real desire to broaden her knowledge (well, the subjects would have to interest her before she would so much as think about continuing to learn about it), and so it would be understandable if she decided to drop out after she had received all of her O.W.Ls.

On the other hand, however, she was aware also aware of the fact that her family would most likely disapprove of such a life-changing decision - her parents, especially. Ever since she had been a young girl, her parents had instilled into she and her siblings consciences that receiving their education and graduating was the most important goal they should strive to achieve during their teenage years, but to be honest, Phoebe saw no real reason as to why she should continue with her schooling. Certainly, the fact that she had graduated would appear exceedingly well upon her records should she ever apply for some kind of occupation, but it would be such a waste of two years, such a waste of valuable money and expenses over a two year span for a female who had no real desire to aspire to anything great. She abhorred the thought that her family's funds would be withdrawn in order to pay for two years of schooling that she would most likely find useless to her.

With a shrugging motion of her shoulders, Phoebe decided that it was no use spending the entire day being pensive and reflective upon serious matters, and she was determined to have a pleasant day regardless of her thoughts surrounding leaving school after this year. Much to her satisfaction, however, fortune seemed to be on her side that day, and it was with a broad smile that she welcomed the sight of her one of her favorite cousins, Harvey. "Good morning," she pleasantly greeted him as she proceeded to scoop eggs and sausage onto his plate. Of course, she was well aware that Harvey could fend for himself, but she enjoyed nurturing and lavishing affection upon her family, and she rather felt that her growing cousin needed all the nutrients a good breakfast could provide. She was sure that her Aunt Stella - Harvey's mother - would agree with her, as well.

Harvey was not, and never would be the morning person that Elsie was. He liked to milk every last minute he could from his warm, cozy bed. However, when he was the last one out of the room and barely dressed, he knew it was time to get a move on. Still half-asleep and not all that functional, he gathered his books and tossed the ones for his morning lessons in his bag. His tie was loose around his neck and his robes were not done up all of the way. He looked like a disheveled mess, but some tea and breakfast would fix that; then he would look like the prefect he was supposed to be. Luckily he'd managed to tie his shoes at least.

Stumbling through the school hallways, he stretched his arms up high, trying to rid himself of the sleepiness, but it was damn near impossible. It wasn't as if he'd been up late last night either; he just constantly felt like he was never getting enough sleep. Maybe he was growing again, that would be nice.

As he merged into the bustling Great Hall, Harv had half-expected he'd missed breakfast altogether, but it seemed he at least had a few minutes. Probably not too many though, judging by the fact that most people's plates were empty and even as he entered, a few were leaving. Time to eat quickly. Yawning again, he covered his mouth quickly and looked around the hall for a place to sit. He saw quite a few familiar faces, but it was that of his cousin Phee that caught his attention. She looked rather pensive, something he didn't often see in his fellow Hufflepuff. It was funny how most people assumed he and Phee were siblings rather than cousins, but he supposed that was because they looked more alike that he and Elsie did. Must have been the Beauregard genes winning out over their mother's; Elsie looked just like their mum and Harvey like their dad.

He flopped into a seat across from Phee and passed her a sleepy smile, which grew into a wide grin as she started piling food onto his plate. "Morning Phee." He greeted her, reaching about for the pot of coffee he knew was around somewhere.

The corners of Phee's lips turned upwards as let out a slight giggle that she did not even attempt to contain. Her cousin's physical appearance that morning was hardly out of the usual as Harvey frequently showed up for breakfast in the Great Hall in a rather half-asleep state, his hands always seeming to flounder about for a steaming cup of coffee that would assist in rejuvenating him. However, even after years of witnessing the same routine time and time again, Phee was still amused by how slightly unkempt her cousin seemed to appear. His tie was loose about his neck, his robes were only buttoned up halfway, and his hair was slightly disheveled; Phee attempted to resist the urge to straighten his appearance. If she constantly mothered him, how else would her cousin be able to care for himself whenever that time came for him to live on his own in solitude? However, scooping items of food upon his plate was necessary as the quicker Harvey scarfed down his breakfast and gulped down his usual cup of coffee, the more likely he was to attend his first class of the day time on time.

"Oh, Harvey," she giggled as his hands began floundering about for what Phee knew would be the pot of steaming hot coffee, but instead was aimlessly lifting different jugs off of the table that were not his intended object. He must be much more fatigued than I imagined, Phee thought with slight amusement and a small smile as she reached forward across the table to grasp the handle of the coffee pot to save him the trouble of further seeking it out before pouring the pot's dark-brown, nearly black contents into a coffee mug.

She placed the coffee mug in front of her disorganized - but one of her favorites, she had to admit - cousin, and said with a tiny laugh, "Goodness, Harvey! Did you even sleep at all?" Of course, she was aware that Harvey had never been an avid morning person like Phee herself tended to be, but there were certain mornings when Phee was of the thorough opinion that her cousin rarely ever received the rest he needed to feel refreshed come morning.

It was mornings like this that the only reason Harvey made it to his first class on time was because Phee was there to help him through what should be a relatively easy morning routine. He failed to find the coffee, but in his half-awake state, that was no surprised.

Thankfully Phee had his back and as she set the coffee in front of him, he passed her a tired smile of thanks. "I slept, I slept a lot. I was definitely in bed before midnight." He had been hadn't he? Honestly he couldn't remember. He'd had patrol last night, then he'd come back and done some homework and then read a little bit. Maybe he'd read for longer than he originally anticipated. Whatever the case, he was still tired and the coffee would hopefully help to jump start him.

Harvey splashed a little milk in his coffee and took a long, appreciative sip. It wasn't too hot and he would most likely need a second cup by the time breakfast was over. "You looked rather lost in thought when I got here, something on your mind?" He asked easily before tucking into his generous breakfast. Phee had piled quite a bit onto his plate and he would most likely eat all of it. Maybe he was growing again. Harv kind of hoped so. He was already a bit taller than average, but he wouldn't mind being even more so. He was a bit lanky and a little awkward, maybe what he really needed to do was fill out a little bit. Unlikely, but he was hopeful.

Pausing his inhalation of his breakfast only to down some more coffee, Harvey looked at Phee expectantly, though she didn't really have to answer him if she didn't want to. The Beauregards, even among the cousins were all pretty close and often talked about things they needed to get off their chest, but he could understand if she didn't want to tell him. Lucky for her though, he was both her cousin and a prefect; he could most likely help somehow.

Phee silently shook her head at her cousin's response as a small, amused smile graced her features. It truly amazed her how her cousin could receive many hours of rest, and yet awake only to be still fatigued as if he had not received any sleep at all. She supposed that Harvey's sleeping habits could be attributed to his continuing growth - though how her cousin could become any taller was beyond her as he could easily be considered giant compared to her petite height of five-foot-two - but she had never studied the effects of physical growth for teenage humans (specifically for males), and therefore, was not particularly knowledgeable within that department.

As she observed Harvey pour a little milk into his coffee, her eyes slightly widened in surprise at his inquiry. Had her troubling thoughts honestly been that evident upon her face? However, as much as Phee never considered herself to be wholly intelligent, she was not a simpleton. If she proceeded to confess to Harvey of her thoughts surrounding her views of education - or more specifically, her education - he would most certainly disapprove and would either encourage one of his elder sisters or even her own to insist that she stay in school until the day in which she would graduate. If that strategy should fail and Phee was still not convinced that she would better benefit from a full education (which she would, but she possessed no inclination to aspire to any occupation such as a high-paying Ministry worker or even a Healer), her parents would be dragged into the situation, and Phee was well aware of her parents' views upon education, and she inwardly cringed at the thought of being confronted by her mother whom was an educator herself.

"Nothing particularly pressing," she answered in a light tone as she willed a pleasant the corners of her lips to turn upwards into a pleasant smile. "I had recently come to the realization that a report is due for Divination in two days time, and I have yet to begin it. Therefore, I had been pondering the many ways in which I could complete the task without seeming rushed." It was not a lie, of course. She had been assigned a report for Divination, but Harvey was not privy to the fact that she had already begun her report and was nearly finished with it - what Harvey was not in acknowledgement of would not harm him, Phee reasoned.

In order to distract him from pondering her partially sincere excuse, she pointed her index finger at the plate of breakfast foods that was before him. "Eat," she demanded gently but firmly, "You will not be able to function on coffee alone, not with how sleep deprived you seem to be."

Watching his cousin out of the corner of his eye, so that he didn't appear like he was staring at her expectantly. He continued to stuff his face with no real regard for manners, though he was pretty sure Phee wasn't going to hold it against him. At least he hoped not. It seemed his question was unwarranted however, as she cited a Divination essay as the cause for her thoughtfulness.

"Can't help you there Phee, never took that one." The love of that class only ran in that branch of the Beauregards. So far the rest of them didn't bother with it, but Harvey knew Lucinda enjoyed the subject and apparently Phee did to. He wasn't going to hold it against her, not in the slightest, but he had just never seen the draw to it. Harvey tended to stick to practical subjects, though he wasn't sure how many of them he'd actually need to get a job in the department of Magical Games and Sports.

Harvey scowled lightheartedly at his breakfast though he had already scarfed half of it down, as Phee pointed out coffee alone could not sustain him. "Ma says I must be growing again, it's been going on since late summer." It would explain the constant fatigue and hunger. He ate all of the time and even eight or more hours of sleep didn't seem to be enough. Harv had noticed a gain in height, though he hadn't filled out any. He supposed he shouldn't complain, at this rate he was going to be taller than average. It could stop any time however, as he was quite ready to not be so tired all of the time.

Smiling, he drained his first cup of coffee, already feeling better. "Fortunately, coffee at least gets me through the morning." He poured a second cup and again added some milk, taking another sip. "I'll be fine." He assured her with a wide grin.

Phee shook her head and smirked, slightly amused by her cousin's lack of table manners, but she made no remark upon it as she deemed the attempt to correct his manners to be rather fruitless - not to mention that she had become rather accustomed to it, and was able to quickly disregard his improper usage of table manners. However, there was a brief moment in which she inwardly cringed at the manner in which Harvey broke his fast as her proper disposition - the one that had been dutifully instilled into her by her mother, whom was a governess - urged her to immediately correct his eating habits. Fortunately, she was well-enough trained that she could resist such unexpected impulses.

"I'm aware," Phee said with a slight chuckle, a small smile graced upon her pretty features before she continued, "which is why I did not ask you, silly." She poked him gently in the side as another chuckle escaped her thin lips. Of course, Phee had always been aware that the study of Divination often came across as impractical, but she had always been fascinated by the impossible, and not to mention that she does tolerably well within that area of study, which was always encouraging.

"How you can still be growing is beyond my comprehension!," she asserted, slightly aghast as she turned her big, blue eyes upon her cousin's tall physique, which was quite large compared to her petite frame. However, her expression of astonishment softened once she noted his lighthearted scowl, alerting her that he was not too keen upon the idea of constant growth, as well - it must be rather irritating to be fatigued and hungry throughout the day. Placing a comforting hand upon his arm, she said in her usual soft tone, "I'm certain that you cannot grow too much taller. It is only a matter of time before you cease growing."

"I know you will be," she stated, her hand still placed upon his arm as she smiled warmly at him. "I just cannot help but be concerned for your well-being - I should so loathe for you to be declining in health whilst under my watch. I'd rather witness you healthy and energized rather than ill and fatigued." As Harvey proceeded to pour himself an extra cup of coffee, Phee reached into the pocket of her robes to pull out a brass pocket watch, and pried it open with the tip of her finger to observe how much longer she and Harvey had to spare before they had to depart the Great Hall for classes.

Oh, ample enough time if we hurry..., she thought to herself as she clicked the pocket watch back shut and returned it to its original place in the pocket of her black school robes. Once again allowing her blue-eyed to settle itself upon her cousin's form, she informed him, "We have a bit of time before we have to leave, but do make haste. It is better to arrive to class on time rather than be tardy."
