Careers Day; Open to 5th-7th year students!

Julian was rather amused by the fact that he had been asked to come to recruit new cursebreakers at careers day. After all, he was a retired cursebreaker -- retired because he was shy a limb as a result of his time as one. Still, he didn't look too obviously maimed, and so maybe it would work out.

It might even be fun! Once Julian had been in a similar situation to these children, trying to decide what to do with his life. He had not thought then that his path would take him to being a novelist, but that was where he had ended up!

Ava still had absolutely no idea what she wanted to pick for a career. She knew she had to make her mind up fairly quickly. She only had one more year to decide. But she seriously doubted the career fair would solve her problems. Everyone here would just be forcing the pros of their department down everyone's throats, anyone who was willing to give them two seconds to listen. You needed carefully placed and precise questions to get a hint of the cons.

So...Next on the list was apparently Curse Breakers. She boldly approached the person. "Alright, let's here your sales pitch."

Curse breaking sounded like a possible career path for him. They seemed to be paid good enough money and to Yarrow, that was what mattered most. Besides, curse-breaking didn’t sound boring either. They might not have been aurors, but curse-breaking was close enough on the jobs with danger and fun scale.

He had approached that booth just after some blonde girl he had seen around the Slytherin common room. It’d be so much better if they just stuck to Miss Tatting’s, the Public Information Services Office and the hospital’s booths but no, they had to stick their noses to the jobs made for men as well.

But at least with her question, he wouldn’t have to speak. He looked at the man who had come to represent the curse-breakers and waited. Perhaps he’d be the one to impress him most today?

Clayton already knew he was going to be a cursebreaker. His conversation with Mr. Scamander at the mans campaign event had basically cinched his desicion. Still, he figured it might be interesting to see which of his classmates would be interested in the career. Most were dunderheads, in his personal opinion. Especially at their current ages, chasing after skirts and what not. "Are they any establishments besides Gringotts that hire cursebreakers? Are most cursebreakers of the freelance variety?" He asked, curious as to the answer as he was aware that there were some that worked for the bank while others seemed to work where they pleased.

Felix fell in line with the other students who seemed to be crowding around the curse breaker booth. He glanced around noticing a fellow Ravenclaw, Mr. Ross and two slytherian he vaguely recognized. He tried to dissacoiate himself with slytherian as often as possible but the boy he recognized, if only because he was a right arse. The girl though, there was something very familiar about her that he hadn't quite placed yet.

He listened to the others students then pitched in so that the representatives might answer them all at once.

"Also what are the qualifications and does your department have internships?"

Jules quickly gathered a crowd, one that he inspected somewhat dubiously. The girl ... she seemed rather small to be a curse breaker, and the others did not seem to really know what the job entailed. Well, he supposed that was why he was there.

"I'm here specifically for Gringotts," he began, leaning on his cane. It was carved to look like a crocodile, the head for the handle, the body down the length, and the feet for the base. "There are some freelance opportunities for curse breakers, and the ministry even occasionally hires one for a job or two, but people looking for curse breakers go first to Gringotts because that is where the best are trained and where you can find the highest concentration as well."

He eyed the tallest of the boys, wondering if he really knew what he was asking about. "Curse breakers are not part of the ministry, but do have a one-year apprenticeship under an experienced curse breaker. As for the requirements, first is a strong constitution; this is not easy or delicate work. Class-wise, you need NEWTs in Ancient Runes, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Transfiguration; and an OWL in Arithmancy."

Everything that the man was saying was everything that he already knew aside from the answer to his own question. Gringotts would be where he would go then as he intended on being the best. There was no way he would settle for less. He wasn't expecting to learn any new information but he stayed in the group anyway. One just never knew but some new tidbit of information might come up.

An OWL in Ancient Runes and Arithmancy? Yup, that ruled out curse-breaking for him. He had not even taken those electives in his third year.

As Yarrow walked away from the curse-breaker’s booth to find something that worked with the classes he was taking, he idly thought that perhaps it would be more helpful if he had been allowed to attend a Career’s Day before he picked his electives.

When time was up, Julian wished good bye to the children who were still around and turned to pack up. He was a bit stiff, and he rubbed his thigh where it met his prosthesis. He wasn't right for this sort of work, not at all, but apparently there had been no one else. And, truly, he had enjoyed his time as a curse breaker.
