Home Will Have to Wait

[Amelia Evans]

Amelia could picture it. The Prewett Household overrun by animals with owls flying in every direction and cats climbing up the curtains to swat with their paws at the flying owls. "Your own personal menagerie!" the imagery made Amelia giggle. "Im sure if the children are anything like their father, they will greatly appreciate the incoming of the new animals."

"Would you care for more tea, Mr. Prewett?" Mrs. Evans asked, ever the polite hostess. Mrs. Evans extended a small plate on which small square biscuits sat. "Or, we have some wonderful biscuits as well that our Mrs. Jennings has made. She's quite famous for them."

  

[Faustus Prewett]

Faustus smiled kindly at Miss Evans; she really was a sweet girl and would make some man a very lovely wife. When he was offered more tea, however, Faustus shook his head gently.

"I do thank you for your hospitality, Mrs. Evans, but I am afraid I must excuse myself." If he stayed too long, people would talk. Neither he nor Miss Evans needed rumors circling around them. "I do hope that I will see you all again.

"Very well, Mr. Prewett." Mrs. Evans said, standing up. "Thank you for seeing our Amelia home, we are grateful that you were so kind enough to help."

Amelia nodded, smiling at Mr. Prewett. "Indeed, many thanks, sir. I hope the rest of your weekend fairs well."
