Appearance: Lavi is of average height being slightly on the slender slide. She has sharp, penetrating blue eyes and extremely pale skin. She has long light blond hair, so light that it borders white during the summer. Her hair is slightly wavy. It looks fairly brushed and presentable but sometimes the waves can be difficult to manage, leading to tangles which she doesn’t necessarily put enough effort into brushing out. Her dominant hand is right and she favors blue and white dresses. She does not spend all that much time picking out clothes, preferring to focus her attention on other things.
History:
September 1869-Lavi is born, the youngest of six daughters to Abraham and Mina Van Helsing.
September 1871-Sophronia leaves for Hogwarts. Lavi doesn’t have any great feelings about the move as Sophronia was so much older than her and so the two were not exceptionally close
October 1871-During a family vacation to America, Lavi’s mother is murdered by a vampire. Her father and older sisters are distraught but Lavi is too young to entirely understand what is going on. Still, she misses her mother even though she isn’t told until much later what happened and why.
Spring of 1873-Lavi is delighted that her older sister, Sephey shows signs of magic. She finds it hilarious that she turned one of her older sisters dolls into a slug. Wishing to impress her sister and prove she’s magical too she transfigures a stick into a quill when one of her quills breaks.
1874-Corrine leaves for Hogwarts. Again Lavi is not too troubled by this. The sister she is closest with, Sephey is only one year older than her and so is still with her. Lavi spends the most time with Sephey. Lavi is a bit jealous that Sephey gets to begin her education first, particularly with respect to vampire hunting/defense. But she asks Sephey all sorts of questions about what she does, determined to learn at least a little bit before her training officially begins. And when she’s allowed she observes Sephey’s training.
1875-Lavi’s education begins. She soaks it all up like a flower that had been withering during a drought only to receive water when a rain shower began. She really takes to the languages and vampire training in particular. But she wishes to be polite so she works hard with her etiquette. She just finds that much more boring.
September 1876-Artemis attends Hogwarts and this time Lavi does feel a sense of loss. However, she comforts herself since Sephey is still with her. She’s excited to learn horseback riding with her sister Sephey.
September 1877-Roxanne leaves for Hogwarts and things are much quieter. But Lavi is still alright because Sephey is with her and she has her studies to focus on.
1878-Valentine goes off to Hogwarts and the house is quieter still. This doesn’t particularly bother Lavi since she is a quiet girl. Still, the sound of all her older sisters comforted her. But fortunately Sephey is still here and the two keep each other company.
1880-Sephey leaves for Hogwarts and Lavi is thrilled she gets to come with her. She'd hate to be all alone at home. Sadly Lavi is sorted into a different house, Ravenclaw rather than Slytherin. But she resolves to visit her sister frequently anyways. The two are close. Also, Father gets remarried and Lavi is pleased to see him smiling more (during break). She takes to her new step-mother much better than Sephey did.
1881-During winter break Lavi is informed that both her step-mother and older sister Artemis are pregnant. She is excited for them both although slightly worried about Artemis since the child will be illegitimate. But still Lavi believes there’s a special kind of magic about pregnancy, particularly when true love is involved. (She is a bit of a romantic at heart.)
Summer 1882-Lavi is introduced to Artemis’ baby, Broderick. She cries when she learns that her step-mother (who she refers to as Sadie) had a miscarriage. Lavi hugged Sadie a lot and reminded her that the baby was in heaven now. She hopes Sadie can have another child.
September of 1883 - Present: Lavi is excited to have been able to choose some of her classes. She finds that is surprisingly skilled with divination and rather enjoys the subject even if the future can be most difficult to decipher. She likes the puzzle and the challenge and the notion of relaxing the mind in a disciplined fashion.
Lavi becomes a bit nervous when Sephey makes her private debute with a private coming out ball. That means she is only a year behind and she does not wish to think of marriage or husbands. She wants to fall in love naturally.
Personality: Lavi is a whimsical girl with a quiet disposition. She’s quiet not necessarily because she’s shy but because she doesn’t bother commenting on things that don’t interest her. She’s introverted and intelligent. Her sharp eyes are extremely observant, noting details most miss. She has a near photographic memory. She enjoys people watching, trying to decipher the hidden thoughts within. She doesn’t make her intentions obvious as she never observes without a book or sketchbook in hand. She loves both reading and sketching and you will rarely see her without her sketchbook in case inspiration strikes. When she speaks her voice often sounds dreamy. She is sweet, caring, and creative but a bit quirky. She has radical ideas.
