“Ah, from one carnival we jump to another!” Javert commented once she finished reading the article regarding that year’s summer carnival. The other carnival he was referring to were the elections. While they were interesting at first, Javert found himself wanting for them to just end by the time May came. Too many people trying to prove that they were suitable for the post of Minister by throwing huge, ridiculous parties. At least the summer carnival had burlesque dancers.

“What do you think, Fleming? Are you planning on going?” Javert turned to one of the other Ministry employers that were at the break room. From them all, William Fleming was the closest Javert had to a friend. Lawyers were not quite as fun as aurors, but at least they didn’t smell like magical creatures. Javert couldn’t understand why anyone would want to work with house elves or goblins.

William had brought a bit of work to the break room, even though he actually did not feel like working. Unfortunately, he had piles of work on his desk and would not be able to take a proper break just yet. At least he would be able to socialize while he was reading letters, he needed some kind of distraction today or he would simply go insane. The desk work was not his favorite part of the job, but it had to be done.

William glanced up from the letter he was reading, when his good friend Javert mentioned the upcoming carnival. A smile appeared on his lips, it had been a busy season already, but he was still looking forward to the next one.
"Yes I am, feel free to join me.. Unless you want to see the animals, they bore me" William put the letter back in its envelope and postponed it. He was more interested in talking with his friend, the auror, who always managed a decent conversation when he wasn't out catching bad guys.

Go with William? Well, that could be fun. Certainly more fun than going on his own. In the past, he’d go with his sisters, but now Paulette was dead and Odette in France and he doubted that his father would want to come with him. It wasn’t as if he was a ten-year-old to go anywhere with him anyway.

“No, not the animals,” Javert replied, though he remembered some animal shows that were somewhat interesting. He had little interest to just watch animals in cages, though. Some people liked feeding them and testing how close they could get to the big cats’ cages, but this was not for Javert.

“I’ve always been a fan of the dancers,” he said. It’d be improper to say “burlesque” dancers with so many people around, even if Javert was sure that at least half of their colleagues would visit the burlesque dancers’ tent at least once. “I hope my favourites will be at this year’s show as well.”

William was happy to hear that Javert had no interest in animals, it was easier to go with someone who had similar interests as him. If William didn't have to discuss where they should go, chances were that he would not loose his temper. He never had the patience for those long, tiresome, democratic debates. He preffered the more aggressive ones that were over quickly, but those were not very suitable when socializing. He had learned his lesson though and had managed to gain some sort of patience.

"Ah.. The dancers.. Well I think we think alike.. What would the joys of summer be, if not the dancers?" A slight smile appeared on his lips as he remembered the last time he went to see them. "I'm sure they will be, Montfault. Don't you worry." He moved a little closer to his old friend as he spoke in a low voice and gave him a certain glance, before he straightened his back and tilted his chair.

There was a reason Javert liked William Fleming and this was certainly it. Most men enjoyed burlesque dancers, but there were also those who thought the snow to be too vulgar. Those men were likely the ones who populated brothels most, but they still tried to save face. While Javert wouldn’t openly display his interests, he wouldn’t wear a hood and mask while visiting the burlesque dancer’s tent.

“Miss Morgan is quite the beauty, don’t you find?” he continued quietly. Whoever run the burlesque dancers’ show truly knew what he was doing. While Miss Jezebella Morgan was probably old enough to be considered a spinster, she could rival many debutantes in beauty. Then again, if most debutantes wore the same attire as Miss Morgan, they’d probably be so much more appealing.

William tilted his chair as Javert mention one of the dancers and a smirk appeared on his lips, as he thought of Miss Morgan. She was beautiful even if she was rather old, but then again Will had always appreciated experience in a woman. The really young innocent girls that some men preferred were not really his type, but he would probably marry one of them as he ought to anyway.

"She sure is, I should.. " Unfortunately he did not manage to finish his sentence, since his chair slipped forwards and William himself dropped to the floor. Clearly angry at the chair, he got up like he was going to kick it, but managed to gain some control of himself before he did.
"Bloody chair" He mumbled and with a quick wave with his wand the chair was at its right position. William still felt slightly irritated, but then his eyes met Javert's and he could not hold a silent laugh back. Even if his pride was rather wounded.

Javert was taken aback when William fell, so sudden it had felt. It had happened to him several times, especially with the chairs at the office. With his job being as fast paced as it was, he often rushed to get on his feet and instead of doing that he stumbled which was quite the spectacle for the other aurors that happened to be around him. At least he rarely stumbled when on a mission.

“It’s like they have life of their own these chairs!” Javert commented. “Keeping us from saying anything bad!”

Like governesses ready to chastise them for talking about hussies.

William sat down on the chair when it was in its right place again and turned his attention to Javert when he spoke.
"It's true!" He said and lifted his hand slightly in a quick gesture. He leaned over the table as he tried to recover from the accident, which had taken him out of the subject of the conversation.
"Ahh the dancers, of course it should happen when we are talking about them. Easily distracted I suppose" He remarked and raised his eyebrows.
"I've heard they have a new dancer.. She is called Greta.. She is from Scandinavia and should be very talented.. " William said while he nodded and stroked his fingers over his chin.

Distracted, yes. Javert let out a small laugh. There had been women that were quite distracting in their appearance. Not so much as to make Javert fall off his chair, but pretty enough to make him distracted in a middle of a conversation.

“Talented you say?” Javert said with a raised eyebrow and a smile. “We shall see that! I hope she is not like that Miss Lacey from last year - you know, that redheaded one? She was quite a good dancer, but terrible at conversations. I merely greeted her and I swear to Merlin she gave me one of the deadliest looks I’ve received in my life!”

William returned Javert's smile and wondered what the word 'talented' might include. He kept his thoughts to himself though, he wouldn't want to shock the entire room of ministry men. Instead he listened to his friends words and was reminded of the terrible behavior of Miss Lacey.

"She was a cold woman indeed, I was rather shocked when I met her as well.. But if she behaves like that towards everyone no wonder nobody likes her." He commented and started collecting the few letters he had brought with him for the break. He would have to get back to work soon, it had been amusing to meet Javert for a chat, but he really had stuff to do. Therefore he only stayed a few more minutes, before he excused himself and went back to his office.
