“Papa took me to have one just last month!” Lola piped in triumphantly. Her mama would not have liked it, but Papa never much cared to think what her mother thought of these things, fortunately. “It was just as good as I remembered it, but still very cold. Perhaps,” Lola offered, an olive branch of sort, “I might have you both for a sundae party sometime! It would be such fun!”

Well as far as Hesper was aware, a Sunday was a day of the week and nothing else. She had no idea what they were talking about, but decided that she was better off pretending she knew exactly what was being discussed. "Esmerelda and I think Sundays are wonderful," she declared confidently. She grew confused then when Lola mentioned a 'Sunday party'. Did she mean the day or this mysterious cold thing? "It's sounds very fun," she added, sounding considerably less sure of herself now.

"That would be lovely, cousin!" Flora agreed with a nod. It was fortunate that she didn't catch on Miss Gamp's mistake, otherwise she would probably find it funny and giggle and fail and make her guest feel bad. And she wouldn't want to make Miss Gamp feel bad, because she was beginning to like her very much indeed!

Lola frowned slightly as she pondered the matter. Didn’t ladies usually propose dates for things? Series of dates in case one should be rejected, if she remembered correctly. That seemed awfully silly, but if that was what proper ladies did, she supposed it was her duty as a hostess.

“Perhaps in the summer, when it is warmer,” she suggested. “A Thursday would work best for me,” Lola added. Any day would frankly work just fine as seven year olds didn’t generally have demands on their times, but Mama always said it wasn’t done to be too available.

"Shouldn't it be on a Sunday?" she inquired, a puzzled expression on her face. Even if they weren't talking about the day of the week, if it shared a name with a day of the week then didn't that mean it was a thing for Sundays anyway?

Flora had no issues with the proposed dates, but it wouldn't do to agree with the first date proposed. That would imply that she had so much free time because she had no life. Nevermind that she spent the 80% of her time with Lola. "I would prefer a Friday," the brunette said. "But I could arrange with Miss Pasternack for another day if it would be easier for you."

Lola wished she had a date book like her mama did. That would make this feel even more official!

“I think the parlour is closed on Sunday,” she replied primly to Miss Gamp. “Perhaps the third Friday in August? Id don’t think I have any engagements then.” Engagements were a thing that grown-ups had, right?

Was locking up the parlor a thing people usually did on a Sunday? Hesper was quite certain the parlor at home wasn't shut up on a Sunday, but then again she rarely went in there anyway. "I don't have any engagements then either," she volunteered, copying Lola in order to sound like she knew what was going on.

"Me neither," Flora replied. Most of her arrangements were with Lola anyway, and if Mama had any last moment plans, her best friend would understand. And it was so further in the future, that they could deal with any change of plans.

“Very good!” Lola chimed in, raising her teacup in a toast.
