Moira gave a refreshing of the rules before getting the damn duel started.
"Miss Richardson may begin."

Octavia Richardson vs. Cedric Humphrey

Another six year Hufflepuff male? Not that she had a problem with Hufflepuffs, of course, but the coincidence was a bit amusing. Or maybe it was a conspiracy...the thought was immediately banished as being quite silly though it added to her amusement.
For her first spell (damn it but she wished she could do combative spells), Octavia attempted to charm a nearby statue to life. Octavia has visible burn scars that go from her right arm all the way up to the top of her neck on the right side.

Of the two, Moira had to think the boulder on the dummy business was the more entertaining, she could only be disappointed that it hadn't been cast on a human.

Proud of his previous victory, Ced cast Levicorpus to the rather damaged from the boulder dummy.

Octavia knew that she shouldn't do what she had in mind for her nest spell. It was a bad idea. A very bad one. But she couldn't resist because she could be a bit of a sore loser and Professor Prewett was a nobhead.
Octavia attempted to transfigure a nearby chair into a turkey vulture. Octavia has visible burn scars that go from her right arm all the way up to the top of her neck on the right side.

Much to her absolute horror and immense fury, the wretched little Gryffindor sought to mock her by making a perfect transfiguration of a chair to a... a... a turkey vulture. It wasn't a vulture but the exact type of vulture she'd been stuck as for two damned weeks! To add insult to injury, Humphrey was an absolute failure and only managed to topple the dummy over which left her with no option but to award the round to the little slut.
Lips pursed and fists clenched, Moira managed to relay the results without committing murder with a whole room of witnesses meaning she had also avoided the inevitable mass homicide to cover the one murder up. She did give a violent flick of her wand at the transfigured bird to turn it back into a chair so it couldn't mock her for a second longer. "Miss Richardson you may start the tie-breaker." She refused to say in plain words that she'd won. [Scores: Octavia 13, Cedric 10] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

She had made herself an enemy and she knew it. Oh, and to sweeten the deal, she had won the last round. Even if she lost - as she was mildly sure that she would - she would always remember this moment. Octavia was positive she would have to watch her back but she would take that as a sort of mild pre-auror program training.
Octavia attempted to conjure a small flock of doves. Might as well keep the bird theme going and if she lost, it would be with some style. Octavia has visible burn scars that go from her right arm all the way up to the top of her neck on the right side.

Ced tried to conceal a grin at Miss Richardson’s display. He didn’t even mind when she was declared the winner. It truly was a marvellous display, even if Professor Prewett would make sure that her etiquette classes turned to hell from now on.
Once the tie-breaking round started, Ced regained his calm. After Miss Richardson completed her display, he conjured a swarm of wasps to attack the dummy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Apparently Miss Richardson wasn't quite so skilled at doves as she was vultures. Pity. Mr. Humphrey's wasps, however, were flawless. If only they were attacking something more alive. Just as the thought crossed her mind, Moira was fiendishly delighted to watch as the insects seemed to lose interest in the dummy and rounded on Miss Richardson.
"Mr. Humphrey wins the duel, five points to Hufflepuff!" She was very reluctant to do anything about the swarming wasps but after feeling certain Miss Richardson had been stung at least once she seemed to suddenly notice them and reluctantly got rid of them. "You might want to visit the nurse, Miss Richardson." Was she smirking? Yes, very subtly but yes. [Scores: Octavia 10, Cedric 12] +6 for injury ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
