After bowing to Mr Mulciber, James decided to start out with smaller things, and attempted to turn his opponent's wand into a feather.

Ernest cast a shield charm, whee!  Ernest was confined to a wheelchair after a work accident in 1879 until July 1885 when he returned from a "research trip" on the continent able to walk again.

Mr. Mulciber was not fast enough, so his wand ended up turning into a feather. Sybella was quite glad that Mr. Herondale had gone for that, instead of something more… physical. She would have felt quite bad to see the poor crippled man more hurt than he already was!
“Mr. Herondale takes the round!” she announced as she turned Mr. Mulciber’s wand back to its previous form. “Mr. Mulciber may start the second one when ready!” Sybella is a quarter veela, so your males are attracted to her.

That had been less than successful. This time Ernest cast a full body bind. Ernest was confined to a wheelchair after a work accident in 1879 until July 1885 when he returned from a "research trip" on the continent able to walk again.

James flicked his wand at a chair and attempted to transfigure it into a small lion, hoping the animal would absorb the curse instead of him.
