Well, this is a hot mess, now isn't it?

Mrs. Pendergast has just informed me that I will be dismissed from the school on Saturday. Have you spoken to any of the rest of the family? I imagine they're all mortified -- as they should be -- but more importantly, I need to know if I'm going to have somewhere to go in two days. I know that Alex was talking of staying with Grandmama when I saw him yesterday -- does that mean she won't disown us, or is that Alex just being... himself?

Even if she doesn't, I would hate to saddle her with the three of us on top of Idelle's children, but I don't think we really have the luxury of choice, here. Not to mention I might strangle the Yaxley cousins if I actually have to live with them. God, I should have run away when I had the chance. At least then I would have already been disowned and wouldn't have to care about what happened.

I'll come get you on Saturday - to be honest, I have no idea how mother is handling this. I'll speak to her and try to gauge her mood - if it's any help, I doubt that she would actually disown any of you. She has always been very fond of her grandchildren.

Regardless, you can stay here for as long as you want. Merlin knows that I have the space, and I imagine that it might be more comfortable than living with Rolf and Idelle's insufferable children.

Oh, I can't even begin to thank you enough. I know Rolf is family, but... well. You know what he's like. I imagine we would rip each other apart within a week after all of this. I hope you're right about Grandmama -- I think she'll still have us, but honestly I'm too afraid to write to ask. If she sent back a howler I think I would die of embarrassment.

I'll have to be gone first thing tomorrow morning. I'll see you then.
