Dear Miss Dalwaine, |
December 30, 1881 |
I apologize for my lack of correspondence. My lack of response after that fateful of which we met must not have bode well with your prospect that men were not to be trusted. I have settled you safely into a carriage to return you to your home, but I have failed to keep in contact and inquire of what has happened with my overcoat since I have last seen it upon your form. I have no need for the overcoat at present since I have many pairs, but the curiosity was rather æeating me alive' as most say (by the way, the phrase is horrible. Whoever would delight in eating themselves? Quite disgusting, I daresay...).
As such, to atone for my rudeness that day, I would encourage you to take advantage of this small gift I bestow upon you for the Christmas Holidays. Enclosed is a bit of money to acquire yourself a new wand had you not done so just yet. Even if you have, do make me the happiest of men and spend the money on yourself for your pleasure and enjoy. It is a gift, after all.
Sincerely yours,
J.P.O Whitaker
