"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
I'm writing to you with equal parts excitement and equal parts nervousness. I guess there's no proper way to say this except I made Head Girl! I just received the badge this morning!!!

What wonderful news! They come as no surprise to me; I couldn't think of a better choice than you! I have no doubt that you will take good care of my badge. (Symbolically speaking, since I got to keep mine and you got a new one.)
Are you very excited? Oh, it's silly to ask, I am sure that you are very excited. Even still, I remember that when I received mine I was so very anxious and so very sure that a terrible mistake had been made. Don't you dare think the same, my dear!
Oh, Ellory I wish I could say my stomach was all fine and well, but I find it's absolutely filled with butterflies! Mama and Papa of course are ecstatic and know that I shall be very competent at the job, but I cannot help but wonder what made them choose me. I'm equal parts excited and equal parts nervous. I do hope I'll live up to the staff's expectations of me as a head girl, though forgive me for I am about to bombard you with questions once more. Was the responsibility very overwhelming? What duties of the head girl are different then those of the prefects?
Yours, Tilda

Obviously they chose you because you were the best choice. Miss Devlin and Miss Sheehan were only appointed after their predecessors lost their badges so they had their lesser experience going against them. Which leaves you and Miss Cadwallader, and while I respect and like her, I do think that you'd be better at being in charge.
The responsibility was understandably overwhelming, but that is very much because you expect it to be so. Don't take it more seriously than it actually is. The only difference to being a prefect is that you're in charge of the other prefects. You oversee their patrol schedules and hear their concerns and such. Remember that prefects can't take points from each other, but you can. You'll have to make sure that none of them are abusing their powers. You will also get to interact more with professors. I informed Professor Keene of what happened each week on every Sunday, though you may have a different arrangement this year.
I also hope that your Head partner is someone tolerable, because you will be working a lot with him.
Your confidence in me is very much encouraging! I do worry that I'll mess up, but mama and papa also said what you wrote to me, almost in verbatim, and I'm beginning to get more excited rather than nervous.
It does help to know what to expect though, seeing as I wasn't sure how different it would be from being a normal prefect. I'm glad that I'll be working more closely with the professors, seeing as some of them are my favorite teachers! Did you have great difficulties last year with prefects abusing their powers?
Yours,
Tilda

I'm glad to read that some of your worries have left you. I assure you, by October your duties will fit you like a glove! You will miss being a Head Girl once you've graduated. I know I certainly do.
We didn't have any serious problems with prefects abusing their power last year. Nobody lost their badge, so that kind of speaks for itself! We did, however, have the incident with Rasmus Mohr and Tristan Michaud at the Music room, where Mr. Harvey Beauregard overheard them confess their love for each other. It wasn't deemed serious enough to gain something more than a professor's mild warning, but I'd still keep an eye on them this year. Especially Mr. Mohr. I always felt uncomfortable being around him and I know that other female prefects do as well (at least Miss Artemisia Carrow told me so one time we patrolled together.) I'd pair him only with male prefects for his patrols, if I were you and your partner!
Also, if my cousin gives you any trouble, threaten to write his Mother. Even if it's for something trivial he'll roll his eyes and let you be.
