Catherine had never felt such intense loathing for a person she had never met before so it was rather strange to be feeling it now. Veela like this Sylvaine were the reasons she had to hide who she was! Veela like Sylvaine had no business being anywhere near polite society! Why had she not been removed (humanely, of course) and dropped at some veela colony or whatever?

Catherine had just read the latest Prophet and couldn't help exasperation over the whole mess. She did not agree with all the points made in 'Concerned Wife & Mothers' previous letter to the editor but she was glad to see that some people realized that not all veela were so torrid. Maybe they should make some sort of women driven task force that helped educate overly wild veela about the ways of civilized society.

Caradog came in as Catherine was seated in her now-favorite perch for embroidery in the sitting room and she looked up from her work and eyed him with some concern. "I hope you know that I would never behave in such a fashion as the veela that is making such a ... show of herself ... in the news."

She felt the need to reassure her husband that he had not made a poor choice. She did so love him dearly and his was the only bed she intended on ever warming when they got around to it. She hoped it would be soon, too. Conversations with the other young Mrs. Weasley always did leave her a bit of baby envy.

Caradog was not particularly concerned with this Sylvaine Wallace that was causing such a stir. She was a veela doing what veela did. Clearly so long as you stayed out of her way, she was not a problem ... and, frankly, seeing as he had been staying out of a half-veela's bed for several months now, he thought that likely Mr. Pettigrew deserved a great deal more blame than he was receiving.

"I am quite confident that you are a perfect example of a virtuous woman, Catherine," Caradog said soothingly, reaching out to pat his wife's hand reassuringly. "I suspect that Mr. Pettigrew is more at fault than anyone wants to admit."

Catherine was moderately soothed by her husbands words. "Well, that tends to be the way, isn't it?" Creatures tended to get all the blame and she couldn't truthfully say that it wasn't moderately deserved. Not all veela were as ... scandalous as Mrs. Wallace but she was sure most were just extra discreet. It was all a bad rap, really.

Caradog made a vague soothing noise of agreement.

"It's no wonder father taught me to hide who I really am. I am so glad I get to be myself around you, dear husband," Catherine stated as she gave her husband a loving look.

Caradog gave his wife a nervous smile. He still had not consummated their marriage, but he hardly wanted to do so when she was upset about veela being portrayed - as they were portrayed! "I know you are hardly one to take advantage of your birth in such a way as others might."

Catherine blushed faintly and smiled at her husband. "My conscience would allow me to do nothing else."

"That is because you are a woman of great virtue," he murmured, smiling fondly at his wife.
