It was a lovely Sunday, and while it was not lost on Rasmus that it was St. Valentine's Day he hadn't been able to do much for his lover this year beyond sending him an anonymous card. With ribbons, something that he was positively delighted by, although he supposed that he probably would have been more embarrassed by receiving ribbons than Tristan. His lover was utterly shameless.

He was heading towards lunch with Miss Midford, chatting with her about an interesting facet of history when he suddenly found, as he passed under one of the rose arches that had appeared earlier in the month, he could go no further. His feet were stuck to the floor. "That's odd."

After her failed attempt of confessing her love to a certain half-veela prefect, she had slightly grown to resent the dreaded day. Well he did keep to his word on becoming friends but of course she wanted something more. Like those romantic novels that she liked to read

She and Mr. Mohr were on their way to the Great Hall as they chatted. Katherine had already stepped in the arch before Rasmus reacted. “We are stuck.” Well at least she wasn’t stuck with the Headmaster this time.
She reached for her wand and thought quickly for a spell.“Do you think a certain poltergeist had anything to do with this?”She said before casting an incantation as she tried to get their feet unstuck. Unfortunately it didn’t work.

"Oh, I'm certain of it," Rasmus said with a sigh. At least he was not turning a strange color or into anything else! He'd had more than enough of that last year, and kept waiting for it to start up again this year. "How do you suppose we can get free?" There was certainly some obnoxious twist to it.

“We could try and wait for it to release us.” Like last year’s lights trick though some annoying students did spread rumours of the need to kiss.  The prank sounded familiar. Not entirely whole but the idea used by peeves : Feet getting stuck under some plant. Katherine instantly paled at the realization. This might be similar to the mistletoe prank which meant- “Oh no.” she whispered but audible enough for Rasmus to hear.

Oh no? Rasmus didn't like oh no. Oh no was just about the last thing he wanted to hear right now. "Oh no what?" he asked nervously, having the feeling that he really was not going to like whatever had occurred to Miss Midford.

“You see Mr. Mohr” She started slowly as she tried to compose a sentence that wouldn’t make her look like a desperate girl or worthy of a place in the asylum. “We both won’t like it.” She sighed. “Remember that Mistletoe prank last December 1884? I have come to the conclusion that this is sort of similar to it.” And her pale cheeks started to turn pink. She didn't finish her statement as the blonde was sure that Rasmus understand what it meant.  “I do wish that I’m wrong.”

Oh. Oh no. "You think I need to kiss you," Rasmus said bluntly, his cheeks reddening just as quickly as Miss Midford's were. Even if he weren't madly in love with Tristan, he hated the idea of being forced to kiss someone. Plus, with Miss Midford being a proper young lady ... "No one has ever - stolen one before?" He wasn't even going to imply she might have been willing to be kissed, but Merlin he didn't want to be Miss Midford's first kiss, especially not under these circumstanes. And would it be kinder to try to make it good, or to try to make it bad? All he knew for sure was that Tris was going to be furious.

Mr. Mohr’s bluntness made her flush darker. “No... I-I don’t know. I just want to get out of here.” Katherine stuttered. Of  course he wasn’t willing to kiss her- Not that she was willing to kiss him.  It made her already broken heart ache even more. He was probably thinking about the girl right now.

She was a bit offended when he asked if her lips had been stolen by someone else.  He was her friend. He of all people must be aware that she didn’t go around kissing anyone. “Of course I haven’t kissed anyone.” She said calmly.  

“I’m not forcing you to do it. We could think of other ideas to get out of here and I would prefer not to risk a detention and your badge if we get caught.”she proposed while she unconsciously touched her chastity cuff.

"I mean no offense, Miss Midford," Rasmus said quickly. "I know you would not have encouraged such behavior." This was doing nothing to help Rasmus's internal panic, nor was Miss Midford's fondling of her cuff. He was so very glad that he was not a girl and so did not have to wear one of those, even if it had been a very, very long time since he and Tris had dared so much as steal a chaste peck at school.

His heart was racing from pure nerves; if he kissed her and it didn't work, he didn't think he could stand it. This shouldn't have been a big deal - it was just a kiss, and he was half-veela - but he couldn't stop thinking about Tristan. Tris was going to be hurt, and angry, and really he had every right to be. Raz would have been just as upset if Tris was in this position.

Briefly, Rasmus considered trying to kiss Miss Midford on the back of the hand, or on the cheek, but he was already upsetting her and trying to avoid her lips would probably seem like an insult instead of some effort to protect her virtue or soemthing like that. So on the lips it was, and he'd try to make it good because Miss Midford deserved to have her first kiss be nice.

"I heard they don't go off right at first. Not for a few heartbeats." And heard it was; the last time he had kissed a girl had been before the cuffs had been concieved. Gently, he tucked a knuckle under her chin, not that he needed to have her look up at him. Had she always been a hair taller than him, or had she just kept on growing after he'd stopped? He'd make this up to Tris somehow.

He pressed his lips to hers, doing his best to make the brief kiss something enjoyable, and counted in his head. One ... two ... and he pulled back, his cheeks brilliantly pink. She actually had very nice lips, which really only made this worse. "Your cuff didn't get set off?"

She didn’t have any other ideas. What if a kiss didn’t work? Oh not only will they be stuck  for longer but Kathy would feel guilty for suggesting it. Kathy felt nervous. Not on having her first kiss but nervous on what will happened after this. Will her feelings be reciprocated? Will their friendship end? Will Rasmus hate her after the kiss? There were so many questions and possible outcomes that flooded her mind that she didn’t hear him say anything.

It was only when he touched her that Kathy realized : She was getting kissed whether they liked it or not. There was no turning back even if there was a tiny part of her that wished to stop him. When she felt his lips, without thinking Kath actually kissed back.  Of course they had to broke apart after a second. “Ah-umm..No, it didn’t.” She answered. It was a nice experience but it lacked something.  It made her heart ache. She was a bit stupid to think that a simple peck could change anything.

“Did it work?” She asked awkwardly as she avoided Mr.Mohr’s gaze. She experimentally moved her left and right foot. Thankfully it did and she gracefully hopped off the cursed arch.

"It looks like it did," Rasmus said in relief; at least the kiss had served it's purpose. If he'd kissed her and it had done nothing, he would have felt even more guilty over the kiss. "That's a relief. I'd rater not be stuck in one place all day." He flashed Miss Midford his best smile, burying his guilt inside for later when he could actually do something about it. Not that there was much to be done ... Merlin, he wanted to kiss Tristan, and so much more than that.

With them freed, he now felt utterly awkward; he wanted nothing more than to run to Tris and apologize for being made to kiss someone else, and never mind that it wasn't actually his fault. He couldn't do that, so he'd have to rely on the journal ... and avoid the arches while escorting his quidditch player around.

It felt good that her friend wasn’t angry or looked like he wanted to avoid her presence. She really didn’t like to lose a friend over something stupid as peeves’s shenanigans. And her mind has been slightly distracted by Mr. Mohr’s ever charming smile. She could release all of her feeling later in her diary.“We should get going.  I think that our housemates might not leave us any dessert.” Katherine joked and gave a small smile. Well they should really leave before the poltergeist shows up with more surprises.

"We wouldn't want that," Rasmus teased lightly. It seemed, thankfully, that their forced kiss wasn't going to change anything. The last thing he needed was a resurgence of her crush from the year before. At least this was over with, other than the pressing need Raz had to confess this to Tris.

“But I’m pretty sure everyone has finished ‘insert his favorite dessert here’.” Katherine teased back. Everything was back to normal. The two of them were laughing and teasing again. She wanted to be contented with their friendship. The reason why she wished for a romantic one with Mr. Mohr was something she couldn't understand herself. Love is so odd. "Lead the way then Mr. Mohr."
