    Mr. Skeeter,

I do not believe we have had the pleasure of meeting, but given what I have read of you, I thought you might like to read a bit of me. Your personal crusade to remove the scourge of witches from the dueling arena is something that I take as a personal slight against me, and I would encourage you to reconsider your (doomed) position once you consider my side of the matter.

    Sincerely,

    Maeve B. Connolly

    Miss Connolly,

I find your brashness to be wholly unladylike, to say nothing of your revelation. Rather than play into your personal attack, I will take the higher road. If you are so intent on ruining your reputation and the respect of your poor family, come to the proposal tomorrow morning and represent your opinion in front of the Wizengamot.

    Mr. Skeeter,

I must thank you, Sir, for your invitation—it is not something I would miss for the world. I assure you, though, you shan’t be hearing from me on the matter, for I am wholly confident that others will echo my words and you will eat yours.

    Sincerely,

    Maeve B. Connolly

    Mr. Skeeter,

Given the importance of your post, I understand that you will likely be moderating the upcoming dueling tournament. However, I urge you to reconsider, and to register yourself instead as an entrant. It is just as important for a man to know how to hold his own as it is for a woman, particularly a man so unlikable.

    Sincerely,

    Maeve B. Connolly

    Miss Connolly,

Your concern for my welfare is noted. I will make certain that I personally oversee any duels that you participate in. I would hate for you to attempt to do anything illegal.
