    With Sugar On Top?

    Dearest Uncle Xavier,
I am sure that by now you have read the Wizengamot's most recent ruling in regards to women and dueling. It was a bit shocking, to be sure, but I must confess I am most interested in participating in the next competition which is to be held on the 15th. Do you have any objections to this?

It is of course my intention to showcase my prowess as far as magical skill and I promise that none of my actions will do anything to compromise our family, my fellow female duelists, and, of course, my courting prospects this coming season. I wish to show the magical community that women are just as capable as men and that dueling does nothing to a proper lady's temperament or social standing.

So, I ask you with the most sincerity, may I please compete?
    Yours,
    Evelina

    My Dearest Evelina,
It is wonderful to hear from you my dear. I trust that your final year at school is going well? I am very much looking forward to your Coming Out in June!

You are quite right that I was very surprised by the Wizengamot's ruling. It certainly would have been a pity if they had sided with Mr. Skeeter, and banned women all-together, but I must confess I find the idea of putting women in the line of fire to be most distasteful. I would hate to see anyone get hurt as a result of this change.

However, with that being said, I have the utmost confidence in you my dear. There are certain women who I would be truly worried about entering a proper duel, but you are not one of them. I am quite confident that you will be a shining example amongst your female peers and will observe all the rules of etiquette and decorum that you have displayed all of your life.

My answer is yes, my dear. But, please, do be careful. I imagine that there will be some women whose offensive spells might go a bit wonky for lack of practice!
    Your Uncle,
    Xavier
