ooc: alternate title - maddy's father scares the bejeezus out of gabe

    To Mister Edgar Hamilton,

I am writing to request permission to ask for your step-daughter's hand in marriage.

(I hope you will be pleased to note that the only female currently living in my house is my younger sister Constance, who is at school for the majority of the year anyways.)

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Gabe Hatchitt

    Mister Hatchitt,

While I am happy to hear that you are taking care of your younger sister and have, since our last communication, removed any other women from your home, I must say that I feel this is a bit rushed. The two of you have only been courting for four months, if that. I have not been keeping track but hope that you, as her suitor, have been.

While I think that you have decent moral character, I must confess I am a tad bit worried about your impulsiveness. If you have any good reasons as to why I should allow you to propose marriage to my stepdaughter so soon, please, I implore you to share them with me.

    Regards,

    Mssr Hamilton

    To Mister Edgar Hamilton,

While I haven't known Maddie for very long in the grand scheme of things, I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. It feels like we have known one another for a lot longer than we have, and time without her might as well be lost time.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Gabe Hatchitt

    Mister Hatchitt,

Although it goes against my better judgment, I must say you make a compelling argument. While I cannot say that I have ever felt so intensely about someone that I could not wait more than just a few months to be with her, I understand that all people are different and that not everyone is as patient as I.

I grant you my permission and my blessings to propose to my stepdaughter.

    Regards,

    Mssr Hamilton

Thank you. I promise not to betray your trust in this matter.
