When she got back upstairs from lunch, the maid was gone, Tib was gone, and this note was left behind:
I've taken your wand. It will be returned to you when I'm confident you will not accidentally use it to kill any of the other servants (or yourself). In the meantime, the house and grounds are open to you with the exception of my study, over which I've put a magical lock.
If you require books or anything else from that collection you need only to ask, but I cannot allow you unsupervised access at present. I will not allow you to murder yourself through negligence and there are a good many things in my study that children shouldn't play with.
