The new term had started out well with the youngest students, but his passion with transfiguration lie in the more complex subject matter than could be explored safely within his introduction class. While the weather stayed dreary outside the energy inside the classroom was palpable. All the students were already seated and the excited was from the well known fact that the day would start with the Draconifors Spell.
“Alright everyone, take your seats,” Harrison began as he removed a small familiar trunk from under his desk that was about the size of a cigar box, “I will be passing out one wooden block to each of you.”
As he continued he walked around the room placing a small wooden cube on each student’s desk. The cute was made of a rich dark red wood and was one inch by one inch on each side.
“Believe it or not, these tiny cubes will become become living, breathing dragons,” he paused, “of course, that is if you do it correctly.”
Harrison moved back to his desk where he placed a wooden cube out for himself. Drawing his wand he spoke to the class, “Now pay class attention, You will make a slashing movement with your wand toward the block with speaking the incantation,” he demonstrated, “DRACONIFORS!”
Then, before them all, a flash of bright red edited from he block as it sported wings and morphed into a tiny inch high dragon which stalked back and forth while huffing and puffing. Harrison picked the transfigured creature up in his hand and displayed it to the class,
“Each of you will now try this spell. Remember, as with all transfiguration, visualization and intention are key. Know what you want your dragon to look like before you ever move your wand or open your mouth.”
Harrison began walking around the room, “You may begin. I will be walking around as you work to asses your progress before we move on. Remember participation will earn you house points… now go!”
