Shortly before sunset
Naeva was glad to be home. Home wasn't too far from school, of course, but she liked being home. Sleeping in her own bed, at home, with her sisters. With her father. The holiday had been most pleasant, and now the new year approached at rapid pace. She found herself in the small back courtyard of the family home, resting against a low wall and staring up at the castle. Yesterday's headline had given the nearly-graduated Slytherin pause.
Half-breeds were returning to Hogwarts.
Quite honestly, it made her not want to return to school. For the first time, she wished her father would let her depart Hogwarts early. But she knew he'd never agree to it. It went against Mama's last wishes, after all. So Naeva would suffer the madness until summer came, and then she would be free. She would move on to the Pendergast School, marry her betrothed, have his beautiful children, and become a proper society woman.
In the meantime, she would endure. The only truly good thing about all of it was that she could write her sisters any time she pleased...

Family was everything. Odette saw her sisters as very important to her, as well as her father. So, being home for the holidays was quite a happy occurrence for the young rose. Christmas had past, as well as giving and receiving gifts. Papa and her sisters had seemed please with theirs. Her own had made her quite pleased. Her family knew her, her friends knew her. Even her betrothed had sent her a present. Too busy to come in person, with his own family no doubt.
The headline for the paper had brought both frustration and worry to the graduated Slytherin. Worry for her sister, and frustration at this new Minister. Couldn't the Head Master Black overrule them in his own school? For the safety of his students? What if a half-vampire tried to kill Naeva? That would be horrible!
Half of her wanted to send a letter to the Slytherin prefects, but she know Mr. Lestrange would never listen, and she did not know the other one that well. What could she possibly do from here? Father would never pull Naeva out before graduating, what would have been an understandable stand for mother before this. Now it seemed much too risky.
Coming out of the house, she joined her sister, standing beside the younger girl. "Be careful, promise? Don't even make eye contact with them, don't even breathe their way." She said. It was out of concern and love that she got right to the point. Worry and deep thought were obvious in her eyes.
