Barb has been very much excited for that visit. Her dear William had invited her to have a dinner at his house, because he wanted his future wife to meet his sons. The wedding was to be held in a week and there were a lot of preparations to be done, but the young woman would never forgive herself if she had not met her future step-sons earlier. She hinted it slightly during conversations with her future husband and finally William, convinced it was his idea, invited her to dinner to meet the twins: Lucian and Eric.

Even though she did not have any younger siblings, Barb adored children. People always said she'll make a perfect mother and there was something in it. The blonde was a very warm and caring person. One look into those eyes could tell you she did not want anything more than to just share her warmth with you. Her voice was always low and soft and she used it to make people feel better about themselves. That evening, she was really excited. Putting on a new dress, she imagined how the boys will be like.

When the carriage brought her and the chaperone to the house, her future house, Barb smiled widely. Even when the servant announced that the master will be late and they will have to start dining without him, she did not stop. Seeing the boys dressed up nicely, she took her skirt in her hands and approached them. Her eyes looked like they had warm sparkles in them. She just wanted to hold the boys, because they seemed so fragile to her. However, she chose a different way to approach them.
"I was told to expect two little boys, but here I see two grown gentlemen!" She started friendly, anxiously waiting for their response.

Lucian stood next to Eric, even though he really didn't want to be there. But their father had told them to be there, and even though Lucian had fought against a little, he was now standing in his prettiest clothes, waiting for their future step-mother to arrive. As usual an excuse had come from their father, telling them that he was going to be late, so they had to behave like good boys.

When the carriage arrived, he got himself together and stood up straight, waiting for her to step out. He smiled a little when he saw her, she was pretty, no wonder their father wanted to add her to the family, but the smile quickly got removed from his face and his eyes. He just looked at her, hoping this would end up like his father wanted it. He quickly looked at Eric, but decided to take the lead this time. "I'm Lucian Elijah Dudley, nice to meet you Miss Monroe." He said slowly, hoping it didn't sounded rehersed, but their teacher had gotten over it with them what seemed like a million times today.

Eric wasn't fond when father announced that he is going to present them their new step-mother nearly hours before wedding. It was hard to explain to him that their father needed to remarry and provide mother for his sons in order to take care of their good living. After all, Eric was young and he didn't understand powers that made world of adults going.

And then father ordered them to dress up nicely (which for Eric it meant wearing really uncomfortable clothes) and be perfect young gentleman, which was boring just like listening to fathers speech.

And here he was, standing there next to Lucian, looking suspiciously at young woman, who just entered to their house. His twin brother introduced himself to this woman, but Eric remained silent. His eyes seemed to drill a hole in her face, before he finally spoke: "Im Eric. It is pleasure to meet you Miss."

Barbara had been picturing this day for weeks now, ever since she heard her fiancee has two sons. Maybe some women would be bothered by that fact, but the blonde wasn't. She loved children more than anything and couldn't wait to have her own. It was a blessing that she had found a man like Will, so thoughtful and loving with two boys. Deep inside, she wondered what will they think of her. If they'll like her.... She wanted to make them all a family so much. However, there were small steps needed to get all that. First, she needed to meet the boys and make them like her.

The fact she needed to impress two little boys made her nervous. She knew how to impress adult men, but boys were different. They didn't understand polite chit-chat and did not value pretty dresses or anything of that sorts. They did not like fairy-tales or dolls. So, she brought some different gifts, she thought the boys may like. She bought them two sets of toy trains, that would hopefully make them happy. The toys were identical, so they wouldn't have to fight who got better.

She was surprised by how formal the boys were. It surely made them feel uncomfortable. Will certainly wouldn't do this, so it had to be the fault of the teachers.

"Why so formal, boys? Please, call me Barbara. People actually call me Barb, but I fear your teacher would kill me if I encouraged you to call me this way." The woman winked, giving a box to each of the boys. "I brought a gift for each of you. Could you perhaps guide me to your sitting room where you can unpack them while we'll wait for dinner to be served?" The young blonde encouraged the boys with a soft smile, though she couldn't help, but wonder about Will and when he'll show up.

Lucian took the box Barbara was handing him. "Thank you very much." he said and looked a little at Eric. Both of them hated standing in these clothes, but they did not have a choice. Having to deal with suddenly getting a new mother was not the easiest, and Lucian was unsure whether he wanted a new mother or not, but it was not his choice to make.

"It is this way." He said and turned around and started walking towards the sitting room. He hoped that their father would arrive soon, so they did not have to wait forever with the dinner.
