"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
Once again Kimon was sitting in the Selwyn family library to work. Somehow he liked that much more than sitting at the ministry, though he did that mostly. For the sake of appearance, as well as not butting into his parents life too much. He was not dependant of them like that, but this place still felt like his home more than anywhere else - except maybe Hogwarts, but that was a finished chapter for him. It had been nice to be back for the careers day, but it was good enough.
Sitting there and working, he was stretching slightly and as his hands came to his pocket in the jacket, the fingers closed around the gift, small back of dried lavender, Frida had made for him. He pulled it up and smiled at the memory. She was a good girl, and he had to admit that so far she might actually be a very good match and he had a feeling that they would be good in the future together.
Katherina had just walked into the library, with her usual rush, when she spotted her son. Smelling a flower.
“Ah, that must be new!” she commented with amusement clear in her voice as she put back the book she had brought to the library with her. “I didn’t know you had a fondness for flowers!”
Lavenders, really? Katherina always thought that smell was more suitable to shoo insects away, but she wasn’t about to say that to her son!

Dried lavender especially held a strong smell, but unless you directly tried to find the smell, then it was very vague. "A gift from Frida." he just said as his mother commented on the small satchel. "And a fondness, I would not go as far as call it that, but she asked if I had any favorite flower." he just added. Writing with Frida had quickly become slightly addicting. He liked writing with her and she seemed quite responsible already.
"How are you, dear mother?" he asked and looked at her.
So a gift for Frida, eh? Well, it seemed reasonable that Frida would gift Kimon that. She hadn’t been yet betrothed when she was Frida’s age, but she was sure that if she had she’d probably send Edric flowers too.
“Oh, I’m fine, dear!” Kath replied, rather dismissively. She didn’t want to talk about herself now.
“So a gift from Frida, hm?” Katherina said. “How come? It is not your birthday until August.”

Kimon could not help but smile whenever he remembered this specific satchel - according to Frida, then she had made it herself, and while it was not perfect, then it was still kind of her to do it. "I do not know - she just decided to create it to me." he said. Honestly he was not sure why.
"She is quite nice to talk with, and I look forward to meeting her." he said with a smile.
Katherina was certainly pleased that her son liked the bride she and Edric had picked for him. However, unlike Kimon, she didn’t see a reason to hurry for him to meet her. She was still eleven. She doubted that any meeting of theirs would be as enjoyable as it would be when the girl grew up a bit.
“You will get plenty of chance to do that, I am sure,” Katherina commented. “You will certainly find the time in seven years.”

Kimon was not going to discuss the plan he had made with Frida about going on a picnic with her. He had made a promise to Frida, and he inteded to keep it. "I will admit that I look forward to the picnic with her." he said with a smile.
"She will go to Hogwarts in the fall, which will limit our chances to meet with her." he said calmly. "But I made her a promise, and I intend to keep it. I hope you can understand that." he added and looked at her.
Her boy had this tendency to speak as if she had in some way accused him of something. That never failed to bring a smile to Kath’s lips, who found this thing of his to be quite adorable.
“Of course, dearest!” she said. “You speak as if I will lock you in your bedroom to keep you from going!” No, she was pleased that he was taking well to the betrothal instead of trying his best to get rid of it. As long as her son didn’t become too fond of her niece before their wedding, then she wouldn’t mind how often they spent time together. Besides, if Orestes wasn’t against this picnic of theirs, then why would she need a reason to be?
“It will be far easier once she reaches her third year,” Kath commented. “You two would have more in common too. Most girls tend to mature at thirteen.”

"Would you get away with it, mother? I am of age, and can always find my way out when I have to." he said with a gentle smile. His mother was a good woman, and while he did not think the betrothal was bad, and he was trying to make the best out of it, then he still wished that he had never been betrothed.
"I agree mother, but there is still two years until then - and I felt bad for not trying to talk with her." he said calmly. "And I hope to think that I have made her less worried about starting at Hogwarts, even though she has her own family to ask." he added.
Kimon could often be such a silly boy! He hadn’t taken much from his mother’s side of the family, it seemed.
“Some of your uncles had their first proper conversation with their wives two years after they were married,” Katherina pointed out at her son. He had met Edric only once or twice before their wedding day and their marriage had been quite successful. “There is no reason rushing getting to know her, dearest.”

Kimon liked to think that he had a fair share of Lestrange genes in him, he just chose not to listen to them when he was at home - having to think about how things could be mis-understood and have a double meaning was actually a lot harder than people thought.
"I know mother, but we have the chance and I would not want her or cousin Orestes to think that I am not accepting the betrothal and wish to do my best to make her happy." he said calmly. "And we are taking it slowly, we have years before we are even expected to get married and then after that we still have years in marriage."
Kimon was not in doubt that Kath would know it if he went too quickly with Frida. His mother rage was one thing, and he would prefer not to be targeted at that, but facing his cousin Orestes as well was not making it any better. It was quite simple that way - he was going to stay a friend to Frida, nothing more.
"Mother, I would not disrespect you, father, cousin Orestes or Frida like that." he said softly.
“Good,” Kath said once again. Kimon was a smart boy most of the time, so she trusted that he’d understand without her having to explain it to him more than once. With a small smile, exited the room to go about with her other things.
