There was nothing Astoria seemed to hate more than election season. She had so many opinions of her own, but as a woman she couldn't express them openly. She couldn't even vote! But yet she was still dragged along to all the Campaign Events just because she was still living with her father and he was a wealthy man who could vote. It was quite a wonderful day at least, she thought as she walked with her father through the park to where the event was held. She loved the feel of the spring air on her cheeks. She stayed silent for most of the trip, just to make sure she wouldn't say anything out of place. The last thing she needed was to get scolded again and sent to her room without dinner like a child for acting up. Her father has had it up to here with her constant bitching. He'd break her down if he has to. It won't be too hard if he threatened to disown the girl. His wife would kill him for it if she was alive but he wasn't letting Astoria soil the family name.
"Lovely day isn't it, Astoria?" William, her father, finally asked, glancing over at the lovely young woman. She simply nodded and said, "It is. Good thing too. I doubt anyone would come if it wasn't," Astoria said, almost monotone like she was speaking just to acknowledge her father, not anything more. She kept walking with him until they finally reached where everyone was at. She greeted quite a few people and her father smiled and shook hands with old friends. He introduced his daughter to them and things went pretty well. "Ready to watch some croquet?" asked another man, whom was one of William's old friends. He nodded and Astoria said, "I do hope everyone does well." The three of them took a seat in the stands so they could watch the tournament.
The place was pretty lively with so much socializing and watching the tournament. Astoria thought it was too bad that she couldn't vote. Or even run. Because she had quite a few opinions that she'd like to express to the world. She wondered where the man who this campaign event belonged to was. Probably schmoozing some other rich family. She rolled her eyes at that. But she continued to sit up straight and look proper. One of these days...she'd be free.
