The lunch hour had arrived, and while most at the ministry went home to eat or had something in their offices. Others went to the three broomsticks to meet up with friends, and share a butter beer or two before heading back to work. Sterling Carrow, however, went to the broomsticks to be alone with his thoughts. Some might see that as a crazy notion, going someplace packed with people to be alone. But to Sterling it made sense, he could just sit in the corner, and become a shadow on the wall. He could observe the people as they went about their day, and Sterling could even do a bit of hunting for his next subject.

Thus far Sterling's midnight activities hadn't been that indulgent, and he had only found a select few subjects that he was willing to take a risk on. The last subject for example was a muggle prostitute who approached him while on his way home from work, asking if he fancied a quick tumble in the ally. Sterling agreed, and once the two were alone he apparated back to his private basement with her in tow, and conducted his twisted art work upon the young ladies poor body.

In Sterling mind he was doing the world two favours rolled into one. Not only was he getting another filthy muggle off the street, he was also getting rid of another prostitute. So it was a win all around, and as a bonus Sterling got to indulge in a rather taboo past time that most others wouldn't even fathom of parting in themselves.

Sterling had been in the broomsticks for a while now; in fact his lunch break only had thirty minutes left. But he wasn't in any hurry to get back to the ministry, he was actually enjoying some time by himself. Between the ministry and his rather demanding father. Sterling very rarely got anytime to himself, so he appreciated this time even more so than normal. Despite the fact that Sterling enjoyed his time by himself, he did sometimes urge for a female companion. He was betrothed once to a lovely young woman that he hoped would one day be the mother to his children. But in her last year at Hogwarts she was discovered to be a hussy, a wanton harlot that had given her virginity away to the first man that smiled at her. After that incident Sterling was rather reluctant to look through the present crop of debutantes, understandably so.

But his father was also putting pressure on him to find another girl. So Sterling decided to at least meet a few up and coming debutantes in the past recent weeks. Thus far none of them took his fancy, and they didn't match up to his or his father's standards. There was still hope however that Sterling would find someone, perhaps he might just bump into someone someday and sparks would fly? Stranger things had happen. Even in the magical world.

After Sterling had finished his second butter beer. He decided to have one more for the road before returning back to work. As he made his way up to the bar. Sterling failed to notice someone coming the other way, and their shoulders collided rather awkwardly. "Oh excuse me..." Sterling said rather apologetically as he turned around to get a better look at the person he ran into. When his blue eyes caught the beautiful face of the young woman. He was rather taken back by her angelic face for a moment. Sterling them re-composed himself, and offered the young lady a smile. "I....I hm was lost in my thoughts for a moment and didn't take notice of my direction. I do apologize." As he waited to hear her response. Sterling couldn't help but get a slight sense that something was rather unique about this girl.

While The Three Broomsticks wasn’t idly a place Narcissa enjoyed being [to be fair any place with people wasn’t exactly somewhere she particularly wanted to immerse herself], it had been the place her Uncle had chosen for lunch and a quick chat. Apparently the delusionally unstable fancied themselves some paranoia over something as trivial as the chance of an owl being intercepted. As if anyone gave a damn what he was doing. She knew she barely did.

Hiding her irritation, Narcissa stuck to being cheerful and ladylike. A young girl excited to hear from her Uncle. Although she honestly probably didn’t have to try every hard with her act considering how utterly daft the escort her parents had for the girls was. As the pair walked into The Three Broomsticks, it wasn’t hard to spot her Uncle in the back even amongst the crowds. He always had a slight gaunt look to him, but Narcissa was pleased that he’d actually taken the time to groom himself into looking like a proper member of society. It was the kind of thing she’d snidely comment on if the pair were alone, but instead was forced to smile and sound grateful to be in his presence.

Their conversation was casual and relatively quick. He gifted her with books on flowers and tea [at least books that were charmed that way considering he’d been aiding her with the resources towards becoming an animagi in secret]. Or at least Narcissa hoped thats what these ridiculous looking books were for because if he’d dragged her all the way out for some flower and tea literature she might have to bring his paranoia full circle and kill him herself. It was a thought that made her smiles genuine for a moment as Narcissa knew snuffing out his life was something she was easily capable of. She could even write Tatiana and make a date out of it.

As she watched her Uncle leave rather hurriedly after their meeting had come to an end, Narcissa gracefully stood up and collected the books he’d gifted her tightly into her arms. The idea of what the contents of the books really were had Narcissa mildly lost in speculation, and it wasn't until her shoulder suddenly collided into another that she quickly came back into the revolting reality that surrounded her. Containing the rage that some filthy mongrel in here had actually touched her [even if it were by accident], Narcissa donned a sweet and angelic smile when she looked up at the man. “It’s quite alright! I was actually lost in my own thoughts as well.” Her tone was apologetic while she spoke and Narcissa even added in a soft chuckle, all the while keeping her blue eyes locked with his. The man before her smiled just like everyone else... and yet Narcissa couldn’t help but feel like perhaps she wasn't the only one between them charading behind a mask.

For a long moment Sterling just gazed into the young girls almost mystical and captivating blue eyes. It was as if Sterling had been captured by a Siren of the sea, and was now being attracted to a rocky grave. Indeed like a Siren this girl was exquisitely beautiful in every sense of the word. The way her hair cascaded down her neck and shoulders, the way her body seemed to me sculpted to perfection, and the way her lips seemed to be touched by Ambrose himself. Underneath all of that beauty however Sterling could sense something more sinister. He could see it within her eyes. It was well hidden, and out of reach for most others who didn't want nor understand what to look for.

But for Sterling it was slowly starting to become quite clear. He could see a small hint of darkness within her eyes, a hint that allured to something darker than even Sterling could imagine. While he continued to stare into the young girls eyes. Sterling took a step closer, and gazed even deeper into her eyes with a slight cant of his head. The girls eyes were almost hypnotic, and for a moment Sterling had forgot his gentlemanly manners and just stood dumbfounded and silent for a long moment.

Finally Sterling came out of his rather hypnotic state of mind, and took a step back. As he averted his gaze away from the young girls eyes. "Yes...well what kind of gentlemen would I be? If I didn't at least offer to buy the young girl a drink to make up for the disturbance." Sterling was slowly starting to come back to his senses. Although it was still clear within his tone, and within his eyes that this girl had something about her that had gained Sterling's interest in a very strong and almost possessive kind of way.

It seemed the man before her had problems with not being able to control his eyes, as the locking of their eyes continued well past the norm of anything standard and into a weird kind of staredown. The predator in Narcissa disliked turning away from the direct behavior, as if doing so labeled her as being the weaker of the pair, but it was hardly ladylike of her to return such a longing look, and so she fluttered her eyes downward and to the side; acting as if she were feeling shy about continuing to engage in such an act. It was then that the man took a step forward though, and keen reflexes had Narcissa’s attention snapping back up into the man’s blue eyes, her delicate frame taking a graceful step back to keep a fair amount of distance between them. His entranced behavior made it hard to not want to slit his throat on spot, as Cissa found herself highly irritated at the opposite sexes inability to control himself around even deluded veela blood. She’d seen Fourth Year Hufflepuffs hold themselves together better than this.

As the man's mind lurched back into reality and he finally looked away, Narcissa was glad to see him taking a step back. This was a public place afterall. She didn’t need some weak minded fool getting a rumor started about her. It seemed he wasn’t done with her quite yet though, and Cissa arched her eyebrows up slightly as the man now offered to buy a drink to show just how horrible he felt for having accidentally bumped into her [when he should probably just be thanking her, as Narcissa doubted the man's day was going to get much more exciting then being blessed with her presence]. Regretfully though, Narcissa perked up the smile that was already on her face as if warmed by the gesture. “If the gentlemen insists, a drink does sound quite lovely.” It really didn’t, as she’d already had something to drink when she’d spoken to her Uncle in the previous thirty minutes, but Narcissa figured it wouldn’t be too hard to excuse herself from the situation if things started to go south again in the man’s behaviors.

Sitting down at one of the open tables now, Narcissa gently set the books her Uncle had gifted her onto the table. It was concerning to have them out in the open like this [even if they were charmed to look like everyday texts], but if they were to share a drink there was no way she could keep hold of them in her lap. Instead Cissa insured their safety by positioning them closely in front of herself and using them to rest her hands upon; a small pedestal for her delicate hands of death. “So what brings you to such an establishment in the middle of the day?” Flicking her eyes down at the man’s Ministry ID badge for a second, Narcissa added in: “Lunch break from work?” It was a delightful possibility as it meant he would be on a timed schedule to return to his job soon - and be gone from her sights for eternity.

"Indeed the gentleman does insist..." Normally Sterling wasn't as...mesmerized by a woman, and acted accordingly for a gentleman of his reputation and his status in society. But today he wasn't taken by surprise by just how beautiful this enchanting creature turned out to be. She seemed a bit uptight, and very rigid with protocol. Sterling noticed that she kept a distance between them, and she showed respect by not starring into Sterling's eyes for too long. If Sterling had been in his right mind then he might have been stern with the rule book as well. But at the moment Sterling couldn't seem to focus on anything else but this young woman's frame and wondrous cheek bones.

Granted, she did seem a bit on the willowy side, and a bit petite. Sterling liked those qualities, however, and found them to be against the norm he had been seeing in woman as of late. Not too say that Sterling had seen a large amount of woman in recent months, his encounters with the opposite sex had been a little bit more...frequent yes. That was only because his father was putting a tad more pressure on Sterling's shoulder to try and fine a wife soon, and not just any wife. She had been pureblooded, naturally, and she had to be from a respectable family. She also had to be the right age to give birth to children, after all, Sterling's father wasn't getting any young, and he wanted to see grandchildren before he shifted off this mortal coil. So, being the ever dutiful son, Sterling tried to accommodate to his father's wishes, and reached out to this year's crop of debutantes. Although perhaps this chance encounter with this striking young woman would be one of those encounters where things turned out to be more than just chance? At the moment that was wishful thinking on Sterling's part.

Once they were both seated at a table. Sterling took note of the books she was carrying, making note that they seemed to be simple text books. It was then that Sterling look back into the young woman's face, just in time to hear her ask about what he was doing here, and the comment about being on a lunch break from work. It was at that moment that Sterling decided to push the boundaries of protocol, somewhat. "Yes, I sometimes visit here to keep in touch with the common folk. Might I add that you seem very...tense, and you seem rather abrasive with your questions. If you do not wish to keep me company, and give me a chance to apologize, as a gentlemen of high standard should do so when at fault. Then please do say so, and then be on your way. I so do not want to make you do anything that would be uncomfortable or unladylike upon your part."

Sterling's voice was strong and honest. It was also his way of asserting control over the situation. He couldn't help but sense that, behind her enchanting beauty, there was a rather strong willed and confident young woman. There was nothing wrong with that of course, hell, Sterling did sometimes enjoy a challenge. But this woman's attitude was a bit off putting for Sterling, at least, for the moment anyway. He wanted to make sure that this strange girl understood that he was just a normal person that wanted to make amends for a mistake...that's what he wanted her to believe for now anyway.
