    September 11 Still

No, no. Take back what I said. I don't think there's meant to be grey fur on my tongue.

How fast does mold grow. I need to find this out, because there is something mold-like at the bottom of my cauldron, and I've only been using it for a short while.

Hazards of being a potioneer: finding out you're allergic to something. Cannot tell if it was a specific ingredient or the potion itself, but this is ridiculous.

    Today's Ingredients:

The mold from the bottom of the cauldron
    12 kidney beans, shredded
    2 cups knotgrass
    1 lemon zest
A loose thread that fell in accidentally

Grey. Sloppy. Smelled of cabbage? Don't know what it does, spat it out almost immediately. On a possibly related note, noticed a few more hairs on my chest.

May have given myself purple spots on accident yesterday. Told Madam Clearwater I felt ill and that it must be that strange color-changing illness going around. Hopefully whatever they use to treat that gets rid of general discoloration?

Terrible idea. Spots went away on their own. Treatment for them tasted like death.

Written on a separate parchment and added later.
    October 18

    Today's Ingredients:

    5 crushed beetles
    Unknown number of cherry stems
    2 dandelions
    1/4 rat tail
    2 chopped rat spleens

I don't know what this does, but it smelled surprisingly pleasant--daisies maybe? Not sure how that happened--and was a soft lilac color. Managed to knock over the cauldron, though. The good news is that I got it cleaned up before anything important got ruined, but it burned a hole through Volume III.

Life's simple joys: A new cauldron. Let's see if I can make this one last to the end of the year.

    Today's Ingredients:
    Newt eyes
    Asphodel
    Lemon rind
    3 beetles
    (drawing of an unknown plant)

How do you add all of those things into a cauldron and have nothing happen at all. I don't understand.

I should really invest in a book on poisons one of these days so I can identify them. I don't actually want to die.

The upside of today is that I know that Amortentia smells essentially like the Potions classroom to me. The downside is everyone probably thinks I'm an idiot now.

This is my punishment for knowing what I'm doing. Excellent.

I have started reading more books on Chemistry of late. I've always thought it and Potions were similar enough in many ways, after all. I highly doubt this study will go anywhere, of course--what would I do with it?--but it still makes for fascinating reading, even for fun.
