Appearance:

Ian stands at five foot nine inches tall with a slender build. He dresses simply in second or third hand pants and mismatched tattered layers. His wardrobe consists fully of hand-me-downs. He has curly light brown hair and blue eyes. Ian is left handed. He typically has a self-rolled cigarette tucked away so he can pretend he’s cool.

History:

1870 |Early in January, Effie gives birth to a second son subsequently christened Niven Ian in Elgin, Scotland.

1873 | A sister, Isobel, is born. Cormac displays magic. Niven becomes Ian.

1876 | After being a troublemaker and picking pockets, Ian displays magic by somehow always managing to avoid law enforcement both muggle and magical. He starts calling himself Alex Elgin Murray to hide his identity when he starts petty thievery.

1877 | The summer of 77 was turbulent and the magical Longstaffs move to Hogsmeade.

1878 | Cormac starts school at Hogwarts. Isobel displays magic at Christmas.

1881 | Ian starts at Hogwarts and is sorted into Ravenclaw. Ian insists that his poor study habits yet good marks are attributed to pure talent.

1882| As a second year with a partial scholarship, Ian makes friends with a group of first years that include James Baird, Oscar Stretton, and a few others. Ian takes it upon himself to tutor the group in mischief. He hopes to bring about Peeves-level pranks to Hogwarts.

1883 | A third year, Ian adds Care of Magical Creatures and Arithmancy. He takes to visiting Dervish and Banges to find materials to charm for pranks on Hogsmeade weekends. He also settles in a role far from a leader, not that he ever wanted to be one anyway.

1884 | Isobel, born late in the year, finds herself at Hogwarts.

1885-1886 | A fifth year, Ian again attributes his rewards of scholarships and good marks as natural talent. He also had taken pride in petty theft to make the ends meet for his parents, again as Alex Murray. Summer 86 finds Ian with some pretty good OWL scores that are as follows:

1887 - Present | Good marks allowed Ian to continue to his seventh year with another partial scholarship. Again he repeated small thefts, this time managing to get to Irvingly and London with some crafty means (i.e. Knight Bus, reworked Floo). He begins having commitment issues with his future.
