Grandmother Urquart,

I hope this owl finds you well, Grandmother Urquart.

You may not ever read this letter once you see who it is from, but I must write it anyways.

My name is Demelza McGonagall, and I am the only daughter of your daughter Evelyn. I presume you might have heard of me before, though likely briefly, but I do believe we have never met before. First, I must apologize for my neglect in writing you sooner - I will admit, I was a little afraid of rejection. It seems a little silly, to put something off for years for such a reason, but I have found it in myself now that doing something like writing you, well it does not seem so... daunting. I do not know what has changed, but I have no desire to question it.

I write to you in a desire to build, if it is not too bold of me to admit such, a relationship as such we might have had if not for the barricade of communications throughout the fourteen years I have lived. Better I attempt late, than never, I suppose.

I've started my fourth year of Hogwarts this year - I was sorted into Hufflepuff my first year. I don't think I do particularly well at my schooling, but I do not wish to work, so I suppose it will all be okay. I'd rather go to Pendergast School for Young Roses than finish in Hogwarts anyways, but I think father will make me finish another year here even though I would have been old enough to go come February.

How are you? What kinds of things would you like me to know about you? How is everyone else?

Lastly, I want to thank you, if you have read this far, for even giving me a chance - it is far more than I could have dreamed.
