With luncheon concluded, the extended family had retired to the large parlour of his London home for what was, ostensibly, the main event of the afternoon: meeting the latest addition to the family. Lucius himself had not yet formed much of an opinion on the baby, though was plainly pleased he bore the telltale appendage of a male. As to a relationship with the babe, well, that would for now be left to Belphoebe or the nurse, and Lucius himself could revisit the matter in a few years.

“Yes, he is quite healthy,” he agreed amiably, not even affording a glance to the bassinet that had been procured for the room in preparation, and that now held his youngest child. The nurse sat in the corner looked absolutely terrified to be there, but it was of little consequence to him. “We are very pleased indeed.

unless you're related to him, work under him, or are a mudblood, lucius is actually very friendly. your character might find him intimidating, but would not consider him a giant dick, esp. if they are also a UCPB.

Katherina liked babies and smaller children because they hadn't had yet the chance to fuck up. Like the majority of her own children. She envied Lucius and the entirety of the male species for their ability to bare children at an advanced age. Kath had only her grandchildren and nieces to rely on; and of course, her lovely Nephele.

Lucius' new son was a healthy babe and Katherina remarked as much. "He has something of mother in him," Katherina continued from her spot over the bassinet. "Don't you think? Come, Mariana and see," she urged her younger sister who, apart from Lucius, was the only person in the room who could confirm a likeness to Octavia Lestrange.

Tiberius' business here had been concluded before the official reason for his being here had even begun. Of course, he wouldn't have dreamed of making an excuse to stay away (though he had left Antigone at home, confined to her bedroom), but his interest in infants was so infinitesimal it was difficult to describe in the English language. He wasn't even interested in his own offspring, for the most part; it was difficult to muster up the appropriate fawning response when faced with someone else's.

He loitered in a corner of the room, quite content to have nothing in particular to contribute to the conversation. He was looking at the baby, but not out of any genuine interest; half of the draw was that he was doing his best not to look at his cousin Cassius, lest someone suspect (somehow) the nature of the conversation that they'd had prior to this, and the infant was as good a place to vaguely stare off into space as any other spot in the room. The other was that as soon as the baby was taken out, he thought he was allowed to leave, without seeming like he was rushing for the door.

It was with incredible reluctance that Mariana rose from her seat - which was a good distance from the heart of the gathering - and crossed the room to peer down at an infant who bore even less interest to her than the many male infants she herself had brought into the world. Mariana was still struggling to adjust to life without Olivia and, to a lesser extent, Eustace and her humor for newborns was at rock bottom.

"He looks more like Uncle Horace," she concluded flatly. It was more complimentary to liken the child to their mother as Katherina had but Mariana no longer cared whether her words offended, not that she had before but she had at least given more thought to what she said around family. Lucius' upbeat attitude was just another reason Mariana wished for the return of her sister instead of this new Olivia-less era in which everything seemed so very wrong.
