    Mrs. Swift,

I should like advice on how best to quit the acquaintance of a man I no longer wish to receive corrospondence from. I have expressed in writing my desire to receive no further letters from him, but this has not deterred him. I contemplated catching and keeping his owl to prevent him from writing, but that is hardly ladylike. Your advice on how best to handle this matter shall be greatly appreciated.

    Dear Miss Potter,

It disturbs me that you are communicating with a man whom is clearly very persistent in trying to garner your attention. I cannot imagine it is any proper sort of relationship for a young lady of your standing to be engaging in. However, as you have learned better than to encourage and maintain an acquaintance with your gentleman, I advise you simply to burn each of his letters without breaking the seal and reading. It may take a while depending on how determined this man is but he shall eventually give up. Gentlemen enjoy a chase but only to a certain extent.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Mrs. Swift
