    Clothes?
    #1
Maeve still wasn't used to having a chaperone. She was so used to having to look after herself that having an elderly companion watching out for her at all times seemed rather strange. Sometimes she was grateful for Mrs Simpson's company though, she didn't really have anyone else to talk to and if she was ever unsure of how she was meant to ask she could always ask her.

Today had been exhausting as they wandered from shop to shop collecting all the little things that she 'needed' - she wasn't really sure why they needed them when they seemed like such a waste of money but she wasn't the sort of person to question. Thankfully Twilfit's was the last on the list, although she had a funny feeling that they could be here for some time thanks to the long list that Mrs Simpson seemed to have in her bag. Maeve wasn't quite sure why she needed so many new clothes, surely fashion hadn't moved on that much since they had left London a few months ago.

And when they entered the shop she knew that they would definately be here a while, there was already someone else waiting to be served. This was her first trip here but she was sure that it wasn't normally this busy but then perhaps everyone else needed to be refitted out in preparation for the new season. Maeve had never been able to understand how the rich could spend so much money on clothes.

The children at home or in school, left Olivia, quite a lot of time to shop. Her favorite however, was clothes. Trying them on, the fresh smell coming out of the wash. So, she came to the one place she knew she could get good robes at. Twilfit and Tattings. She stood as some girl, went around her, fitting a navy blue dress and robe to her body, when the bell above the door rang. Another customer was here. Maybe, some one she could at least chat with, while she was getting her clothes fitted. She turned around ignoring the protests of the woman below her and spoke to the young lady and what seemed to be her governess. She spoke in a soft voice, but it carried through out the small room. "Hello, are you here to be fitted? I'm afraid, I am in desperate need of someone to talk to."

Maeve wasn't used to people like this woman talking to her as if she was an equal either, it felt odd and weird and wrong. She didn't show it though, she was going to live up to her stepfather's expectations. It would be so much easier if she was still a servant sometimes. "I am," even if she had managed to get most of her grammer right her cockney acent was still obvious behind her efforts. "Maeve McKenzie."
