The wand serves Leisa well in dueling, as it can harm or defend with equal ease. Leisa, as one who lives a life of both extravagance and control, is well suited to the duel-nature of a hawthorn wand, and wields it with a firm and skilled hand that has prevented it from backfiring on her.
Dragon Heartstring — Both flamboyant and powerful, Leisa has a strong bond with her wand and enjoys it's tendency to learn quickly. It is occasionally temperamental, primarily when Leis herself is emotionally distraught.

Appearance: Like all the Echelon-Arnost siblings, Leis has blonde hair and blue eyes. Her golden hair, which she keeps long, has a slight wave to it. Her mouth is a little wide, but she possesses full pink lips which tend to make it expressive rather than odd; her lips are very good for pouting. She is a tall woman, matching her younger bother Seigfried's height at 5'8". She is slim overall, but possesses well defined curves that are enhanced by her corsets. She enjoys fine and fashionable dresses and periodically goes on shopping binges to refresh her wardrobe. She is right handed and takes great pride in the appearance of her hands, even occasionally removing her gloves at inappropriate times so that her well-cared for hands and manicured nails are shown off.

History:

1861 — Leisa Karina Echelon-Arnost is the sixth child to join the Echelon-Arnost brood, and the tenth baby birthed by Jena Echelon-Arnost. Before she is two months old, Jena is pregnant again.

1862 — Seigfried is born. Leis is not even a year old, and so does not notice the event that she otherwise would have resented — herself being replaced as 'the baby'.

1865 — Idelle goes off to Hogwarts. Four year old Leisa is distraught that her oldest sister will not be around for most of the year. To sooth her hurt spirit, her parents give her a King Charles Spaniel puppy, a girl she names Dellie after her older sister.

1866 — Elsbeth fails to recieve a Hogwarts letter. More because she senses the atmosphere than because she is told to, Leis takes to teasing Elsbeth. Instead of calling her Elie, it becomes Smelly Elie, which the five year old feels rather clever for. At Christmastime Leis shows signs of magic as she levitates herself to get to her stocking.

1867 — Augie goes off to Hogwarts and is sorted into Ravenclaw.

1869 — Ferb joins their older siblings at Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor.

1870 — Leisa convinces her parents to let her breed Dellie. She keeps one puppy, a girl she names Zella.

1871 — Tobi goes to Hogwarts, and it is just Siegy and Leis left at home, except for Elsbeth.

1872 — Idelle graduates from Hogwarts and returns home. Leisa recieves her Hogwarts letter. She is not happy about having to leave Dellie and Zella at home. She receives a pet she is allowed to take to Hogwarts: a Boreal Owl she names Wolfram. When she arrives at school the Sorting Hat toys with the idea of putting her in Ravenclaw before deciding on Slytherin. She is not placed there for being ambitious — at least, not in the traditional sense — but rather for a combination of self-preservation, cunning, and resourcefulness.

1873 — Siegy starts Hogwarts and tries to insist on being called Samuel. To everyone's surprise, he joins Leis in Slytherin. She sometimes relents and calls him Sammy, but calls him Siegy just as frequently.

1874 — Idelle gets married and moves to the Americas. August graduates from Hogwarts. Elsbeth begins acting out and is quietly disowned and allowed to fall to the lower class. Leisa determines that she will only marry a man who is a pureblood who is richer than her family, and breaks things off with her 'first love' (more of a mutual crush, really); he is distraught, but she has decided that she will only be with the best.

1875 — While home from Hogwarts for the summer, Leisa breeds Zella. She chooses a female puppy with a coat like her mother and grandmother to keep and names her Elli. August somehow manages to get himself run over by a carriage at a protest. That same year Idelle learns she is with child and convinces her husband to move to the British Isles so her children can be raised there.

1876 — Ferb finishes his Hogwarts education.

1877 — Muggles find out about magic. The Echelon-Arnost family decides not to move to Hogsmeade. Much more importantly to Leisa, Dellie passes away from old age while Leis is at Hogwarts. She is distraught and her grades suffer during the first half of her sixth year. In her grief, she begins a relationship with a wholly inappropriate boy. Remembering her decision made at thirteen, she cuts him off just in time to maintain her virginity. However, she decides that she likes both attention and physical intimacy and proceeds to have a series of covert affairs that are ended before (sometimes only by moments) she actually sleeps with any of the gentlemen in question.

1878 — Tobi finishes his Hogwarts education.

1879 — Leisa graduates from Hogwarts and briefly flirts with the idea of a career as a hit wizard, but decides that will not be interesting enough. She has her Coming Out and begins attending parties and Australian professional dueling tournaments, in which women compete under the same rules as men.

1880 — Leisa breeds Elli, but there are no pups that Leis wants to keep.

1881 — Leis breeds Elli again and finds a pup to keep, and she names her Marcella. That summer Leis takes a positon as the Junior Assistant to the Hospital Director. In September, much to Leisa's delight, she opens the Daily Prophet to see that Elsbeth has arrived in Hogsmeade and is posing as — of all things — a princess. Leis decides it is far more interesting to watch things unfold than to out her sister.

1882 — Elsbeth is outed as an imposter and ceases to interest Leisa. Zella passes away. Leis is distraught.

1883 — In January, with Mr. Abbott's decision to leave the Hospital, Leisa is promoted to Senior Assistant as the previous Senior Assistant (whom Leis suspected was nursing a bit of a flame for Mr. Abbot) resigned when he did. She decides to relocate to Hogsmeade, and is allowed to do so as long as she keeps a paid companion to chaperone her around town. Idelle passes from a miscarriage in May. In October Leisa is engaged to Gabriel Rosier and quits her job at the hospital.

Personality:

Although she has managed to remain technically pure, Leisa is remarkably tarty. She has a tendency to let men get almost far enough to disgrace herself completely and ending things just in time, although there has been a time or two when men have tried to press the matter and seen that Leis is more than just a pretty face. She is, in fact, a champion duelist (although she refuses to participate in the Hogsmeade tournament, calling it 'a mockery') and briefly flirted with the idea of a career as a hitwizard before deciding that was far too tedious. She spends a lot more time worrying about what is fun than what is proper, and the only reason she has taken any steps to maintain her upper class status is because she enjoys her posh lifestyle.

While Leisa had been working as the Junior Assistant to the Hospital Director for a year and a half, she had just been promoted to Senior Assistant as Miss Ernestine Delaney had resigned following news of Mr. Abbott's resignation.

The new Director, Mr. James Riley, was a man she was somewhat familiar with, as he had been working at the hospital longer than she had and had previously been Assistant Head of Spell Damage. She had, therefore, had crossed paths with him on occasion, although there had never been an instance that required them to spend much time together or work closely together.

On the morning that the new Director was to take up the position, Leisa had taken extra care with her appearance, dressing in silvery blue and wearing her hair tidily up. She had even arrived early so that she would be sure to be there when Mr. Riley arrived. She was still not sure who was taking her previous position as Junior Assistant, but she at least was going to make a good impression on the new Director. The door opened, and she looked up from her work to smile brightly. "Good morning, Mr. Riley!"
