Olivia was not one for the Hogwarts Coming out Balls. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy partying or drinking. However, lowering herself to coming to the Hogwart's Ball, that was mostly meant for those who could not afford their own personal coming out ball. Was below her status and her name, she did want to speak to her daughter about the up coming summer holidays. Her son was also here, somewhere, among the bunch of people. Sure, there were some that was worthy of Olivia's attention. But, she smiled gracefully at everyone she came across, though her eyes showed the lack of the truth of the smile. She was wearing a dark red dress, with green robes covering it slightly. Her birch wand was hidden in her sleeve. She finally found Evelyn across the room and walked to meet her, making it through the crowd with ease. She had been to many functions now, and was use to the pushing and shoving it brought. Olivia smiled gently at her daughter, one smile she saved for only the closest in her family. "Hello, my dear Evelyn."
The coming out ball. It was one of her favorite times of the year, as she dreamed of her own someday. Of course, her family would throw her one too, but being introduced in front of the student body was important too.
And her mother was here! Sure, once term was over, she'd be back at home, but it was nice to see her mother nonetheless. "Mother! I'm so pleased to see you."

Olivia greeted her lovely child with a kiss on each cheek and held both her hands as she took a good look at her. Evelyn stood out against the crowd like she always did and was surprised to not see her with some man. "My darling, do you not have an escort, tonight? You know, it's not proper, a girl your age without someone to watch over you." However, she still smiled at Evelyn without. "Now, please, Catch me up. I have dearly missed these chats with you my dear." Olivia looked around for some tea and found some on the corner of the long table. She took out her wand floated the cup from the end of the corner to her. Allowing two sugars to drop into it, before she grabbed it with her right hand. She sipped and let the warm tea flow down her throat as she waited for her daughter to speak.
"I do," she said, not being able to mask the annoyance on her face entirely, but making an effort. "One of the other six year boys, a Slytherin, of course, and a Pureblood, but he hasn't been very attentive." She probably should have tried harder to secure a proper escort, but she had no suitors. Sometimes she wondered if she'd even have a successful coming out next year! She had been working so hard for that... but her parents wouldn't allow anything less.
"I saw you over here and approached. If he's smart, he'll follow soon enough." Hm, what to catch up mother on? There wasn't much. "I've been busy, studying. I know it's a year until NEWTS but there's still finals to contend with. Looking forward to the summer." She knew her mother would have many plans, things that she could do to improve her station before next year.

She looked around trying to find the boy of who her daughter spoke of. However, though surrounded by Slytherin's, she did not see her daughter's beau. She sighed softly, but put on a smile for her daughter. Olivia nodded as Evelyn talked, glad she has been studying hard, especially for NEWTS the next year. One of the hardest tests Evelyn will ever take in her life, only compared to finding a husband.
Olivia took a small cookie off the food table and started to nibble on it. She was also looking forward to the summer. Many different parties were planned and hopefully many different suitors would come to call. Evelyn would have to have many new dresses, to please every event she would go to.
"We will go shopping as soon as you get home, you will need plenty of new dresses for the summer holidays." Olivia casted an approving eye over Evelyn, she was getting prettier by the day, there should be no problem finding a husband for her. As long as she acted correctly.
"Oh, I almost forget, your sister and brother, miss you and cannot wait to see you again."
"Yes! I look forward to seeing them as well." She had hoped they might attend, but as no one in their family or her brother-in-law's family was coming out, there was not much reason for them to.
"I'll be glad to visit the shops. What sorts of events will I be needing dresses for? I'm assuming the normal calls, and maybe a party or two?" She was looking forward to whatever her mother had planned. This was her last summer before she turned eighteen, so it was her last chance to come into her seventh year at Hogwarts with her betrothal already in place. She had hoped for this, but she didn't now know if it was going to happen. But the summer was filled with possibility...

"The normal parties and of course since the new minister has been elected, his parties shall be the talk of the town." Olivia thought about the next thing she would say. She would have to be careful in her planning, to allow everything to go as planned. "I was planning for us to take a trip to France, before the end of the summer. They always have the best dresses, and if we are going to find yourself a husband." She smiled gently at her daughter, putting one of her spare hair's behind her ear. "You will need to look your best."
It was strange, the minister being so close to her age, but she imagined that would make his parties all the more interesting. "Oo, France! Oh, mother, I hope it's soon, I want to be able to look my best for everything this summer... you know how it is when I'm in school, it's so hard to get away for events." It wasn't that she didn't love Hogwarts, she did, truly, but she felt almost as if she was done with school, and an adult now. She was, after all, already of age, but she knew she still had NEWTs to go.
She looked down, wondering is she should even confide this to her mother, not wanting to seem ungrateful for all the work her mother was going to have to put in for her marriage arrangements. "Do you think... perhaps by the summer I'll be able to have a betrothal? Or will that be too soon? Perhaps no one will want to wait until I'm done with Hogwarts..."
