HER BONE STRUCTURE SCREAMS
" T O U C H H E R T O U C H H E R "
Trixy had been so preoccupied when she walked into the dressing room, she had failed to notice that something was wrong. She was in the midst of changing out of her dress in order to put on her performance attire, when out of the corner of her eye she saw something dark and unfamiliar. Unfortunately she had left her wand amongst her other worldly possessions and found herself unarmed just in case whatever nature of creature or object it was, intended to attack. Whirling around with sudden speed, gasping in shock. Having never taken Care of Magical Creatures classes, nor had any interest in learning about the less common magical creatures, seeing a Niffler - a dark and rather creepy looking creature in her opinion - was terrifying.
With a shriek of horror, she intended to run for the exit but it was alarmed at her outburst and unfortunately caught sight of her. Even more unfortunate, was the fact that she happened to be standing very close to a hand mirror the handle of which looked very shiny the way the light was reflecting off of it. While she failed to notice this, the Niffler did not. Of course she had no idea that that was what the Niffler would be drawn to.
Thinking she might be able to escape if she ran quickly, she was about to make a move when the Niffler moved first and surprisingly fast. Toward her. With another shriek, she backed herself into the corner and wondered what horrifying weapons the creature was about to use on her. Did it have extremely large fangs? Maybe it bore dangerous magical powers or would simply used brute force to kill her. Or perhaps it had sharp claws or talons that it would extend a fraction of a second before it lunged at her and killed her. Not wanting to find out, she shielded her face with her arms and coward, hoping it would kill her quickly and not extend her suffering.
The fact that her possibly mangled or severely nibbled at corpse would be in a half-dressed state never even occurred to her as she whimpered in the corner of the dressing room, her eyes slammed tightly shut. Had the creature scarpered and someone walked in, they would probably think she was going crazy. However, the creature had not run off.

Sweat dripped down Charlie's nose, tickling it and making him sneeze, which, in turn, made the horse he was leading give a displeased snort. Charlie had been working his fingers to the bone all day. He hadn't even had the chance to go see his sister at lunch, as was their custom, because some stupid Hogsmeade brat had set all the carnival's show horses free. They weren't hard to catch if one had enough sugar cubes, but there were around a dozen mares alone and Charlie and the other lowly workers had been at it all day. Finally, he walked the last stallion into the pen and slumped against the gate as he shoved it closed. This had been one of the more stressful days he'd spent in Hogsmeade so far. Really, he didn't care for it. A wholly wizard-only community? The Devil take them all! He loathed wizards in general, but especially rich ones with snotty brats who spilled their popcorn on purpose. Speaking of snotty rich kids, Charlie turned at the sound of his voice being called by his boss, the head of the grunt workers for the carnival. He cringed and looked around for a quick place to exit. The last thing he wanted was to be put on clown duty or cleaning duty for tonight's show. Quickly, he slipped out the back of the horse's tent and cut through the big top heading for the midway. Safely on the far side of the carnival, Charlie started to wind his way towards his sister's dressing room. Maybe she was in there and felt like going out for a bite to eat. That Honeyduke's cart girl was awfully pretty, after all. Yet, while in his reverie, Charlie heard a screamà then anotherà and he needed to hear no more. A woman screaming in a carnival could be ignored once û perhaps she saw something shocking on the midway or was frightened by one of the death defying acts in the bigtop û but two screams? Charlie had lived in New York long enough to know that you shouldn't ignore such things. He followed the distressed sounds and his stomach dropped when he realized where the noise was coming from. Trixy Frost and he had known each other a good while now. She did the same act as his sister and he'd helped her change costumes on more than one occasion. He'd also cold-cocked that perv who had tried to get a little too friendly with her after a show last year. Charlie looked out for the Burlesque girls. It was his unofficial job and he liked it. He'd scared off more bad ex-boyfriends than he could count, but the girls were always so nice and thankfulà Not in a sordid way! Well, mostlyà Wellà . Nevermind! Back to the situation at handà Charlie torn into Trixy's dressing room with his fists raised, ready for a fight. However, all he saw was Trixy on the ground being sniffed by aà . Thing. "Holy Fuck," he said, jumping away from it. "What is that?!" Being a Squib, Charlie knew very little about the magical world, even though he'd lived in his for most of his life. Squibs weren't privy to such things as Care of Magical Creatures. So, he, of course, knew even less about the creature than Trixy. "Hey! Hey, this way!" He waved his arms and yelled at the creatureà and immediately regretted it. Charlie shared something in common with this creature, though he did not know it. Charlie loved shiny things. He had quite the collection of dropped items back in his bunk. People left purses and dropped rings all the time at the carnival. Over time, he'd amassed quite a wardrobe of jewelry. He was hardly ever seen without some bracelet or his trinket necklace or one of his various rings on, especially on show nights. Tonight was no exception. He had a big bracelet on and a cross ring and a few other more simple rings. The Niffler liked Charlie's style. As it turned towards him and lunged, Charlie let out a very unmanly shriek of concern along with a string of blue language. He jumped out of the way of the creature and it followed, wanting those shiny rings on Charlie's edible fingers.

Trixy was still cowering in the corner, her face shielded by her forearms accompanied by a pathetic whimpering. She didn't like being at the mercy of some greedy little creature, not that anyone would of course. It was Charlie's exclamation that alerted her to the fact that her screams had been heard and apparently acknowledged. She lowered her arms steadily, her eyes darting toward the creature so as to make sure it didn't try to make a sudden movement. "Your guess is as good as mine but whatever the creature is, I don't like it one bit!" Trixy said all this without looking Charlie in the face, though that was only because she dared not lift her eyes from the little beast before her.
Trixy watched in curiosity mingled horror as Charlie called for the creature's attention and it fell for the bait. Trixy was quite certain that the Niffler had sharp fangs of some sort - she hadn't exactly seen them per say, but she believed that it looked the sort of creature that might have a set of razor sharp tooth-laden jaws. She might know very little of animals and magical creatures, but she was convinced the creature was savage and dangerous. Anticipating that it could very possibly attack him at any moment now it's attention was captured, she grabbed the object closest to hand - which happened to be the hand mirror - and scrambled to her feet rather ungracefully.
"Don't move!" she blurted out, feeling sick to her stomach in the knowledge of what she intended to do. Trixy hadn't been sorted into Gryffindor for nothing. With a brief, yet deep inhalation of air, she quickly approached Charlie and the Niffler, the mirror raised like a weapon and swung at the creature with all her strength. As the vanity piece being used for a bludgeon connected with the creature, her fingers instinctively unlatched themselves from the handle, allowing the object to go flying across the room along with the Niffler. "Is it-? Did I kill it?" she asked tentatively, peering toward the place where it had landed. Trixy had a strong suspicion that the mirror had shattered after the collision with the floor, though that could easily be fixed with magic.

It's unacceptably short, I know. I'm sorry. My muse is still working the kinks out. I'll do better, promise. :/

While Charlie jumped and flailed in a rather unmanly manner, Trixy was busy doingà something. He couldn't tell. Charlie was more concerned with the little animal jumping at his fingers and snapping its little mouth. All at once, Charlie heard Trixy shout and then BAM! Charlie stood still, arms still outstretched in shock. He must have looked like he was doing an impression of a large bird. They both stared at the unmoving little animal and all was silent until Trixy spoke. Charlie looked at her, looked at the animal and then spoke in a accusatory manner. "You killed it!"
Charlie walked over to the creature and nudged it with his scuffed up, worn in boots. "Hello? Little thing?" No response. Carefully, Charlie grabbed the animal by its tail and quickly opened Trixy's door, tossing it outside. He slammed the door back and looked at Trixy with an unreadable expression. "Are you alright? Did it get you?" When all seemed well, his tanned face broke into a wide smile and he couldn't help but laugh at the situation. "Well, that was traumatizing. Oh! Your mirror!" He pointed to the ruined mirror and tsk'ed. "I'm sure I can find you another. It's sort of my fault." Charlie moved around, righting things he'd knocked askew and finally stopped, leaning casually against the footboard of her bed. "How come I'm always half-assedly saving you every five minutes," he jested.

HER BONE STRUCTURE SCREAMS
" T O U C H H E R T O U C H H E R "
As the creature and her mirror lay on the ground very still, not moving in the slightest, she found herself hoping the creature was dead. After all, if it was still alive and it was put outside, how long would it be before it found its way back in again and began terrorizing her again? It would only be a matter of time and that time she might not be so lucky. She had no idea what the creature was capable of and had no desire to find out.
Trixy met his look and then looked at the stationary creature, was it safe to approach it? "Better to kill it than sit back and watch it rip your hand off," she stated, daring herself to inch closer to it all the while and wondering if it might suddenly leap up and persist in chomping off her limbs. Having never been gravely injured in her life, at least not to the extent of requiring a Healer, she had no idea to what extent of illness and injury magical medicine could cure. Could they reattach limbs? If not, then the loss of her fingers or hands would almost certainly end her days of burlesque dancing right then and there. A thought horrifying enough to keep her well away from the beast.
She was relieved when Charlie took the lead and went to check on the state of mortality the creature was in. Of course one wouldn't want to inspect the creature too closely in case it was merely unconscious and seconds away from leaping up and biting off whatever crossed it's path first. He nudged it, called out to it and there was no movement which she was relieved to see and in a matter of seconds he had gotten rid of the little pest. "I'm fine. You'd know if I wasn't." She smirked in amusement, knowing full well that if it had managed to sink it's teeth into her she would have screamed the entire carnival down and would probably be doing so at that very moment. No, the worst injury she had received from the Niffler, was the mild embarrassment at seeming completely unable to deal with a small animal. It was a good thing none of the animal trainers had seen - they would probably have found the situation utterly hilarious. Also, they probably would have recognized the creature for what it was.
"Don't worry 'bout the mirror! I reckon I can repair it well enough. After all it's just the glass, no need to replace what's easily fixed." Her wand was buried somewhere amongst her belongings, she'd find it later on before the show and restore the mirror so she could use it. "Perhaps trouble just knows where to find me," she retorted with a smug grin. "Though I wouldn't say I need saving quite every five minutes and for the record, I believe I was the one who saved you in the end." Trixy decided to leave out the fact that she had also indirectly put him in the path of the creature. She glanced again at her broken mirror as he deliberated on whether to pick up the shattered pieces so it was off the floor, she wasn't wearing anything on her feet and since she had just broken a mirror, chances were she would step on it. "I figure I just got seven years of misfortune... It would seem that you'll need to continue saving me for a little while longer." Deciding she would clean up the glass, she crouched down by the mirror and shards of glass and began carefully piling the pieces in the palm of her hand.
