On the uses of a library

At the sight of his older brother, Mac immediately scrunched up his nose.

He honestly could not think of anything to say. He also seriously regretted not just leaving when he had the chance - surely he would be less shocked if he had had some time to get over this and very deliberately not think about it! But no, he had decided to wait outside the library doors like an idiot.

So now he had to have this conversation.

Poor life choices, Mac knew.

"A library," he said, at a complete loss for other words even though he was entirely certain that this probably wasn't the most absurd place that Ham had ever had sex.

"Yes, the library- in my house, which you just walked into without invite." Ham pointed out. Really this was Mac's fault. Not that Ham really expected his brothers to owl ahead he supposed, though he apparently should, if they were just going to walk around the house willy nilly looking for him. Then again Ham wasn't sure he'd want any of the staff to be in Mac's place either. Looking said staff member in the eye every day would be way more awkward that teasing his brother about it.

"Was there something you needed or did you just come for the show?" He teased with a mischievous grin. Really he should be more abashed at how his brother just found him, but really he wasn't any, at all. Violet would probably never be able to look Mac in the eye ever again, but that was beside the point. They'd both get over it eventually.

"Your staff told me you were here," Mac said, still too embarrassed to be properly indignant. Christ. Would Violet ever be able to look him in the eyes again? This was sure as hell going to make familial dinners awkward.

He did take the opportunity to flip Hammy off, which helped him recover some of his dignity.

"Mordred is shedding, I know you're decent at not getting singed by yours whenever she does that," Mac said, glad to finally make his way round to the point, "So I wanted your advice. It's not that important, if you want to get back to your wife."

Shedding, Mac interrupted his lovely afternoon because Mordred was shedding? Yes, Cay was the Queen of Shedding and yes, he handled it often and well, but honestly, wouldn't an owl have done? "I daresay you've ruined the mood for today- probably for a week, thank you very much." Ham said, over dramatic just to tease his brother for the predicament. It was obvious both Mac and Violet were far more embarrassed by the situation than he was, so he may as well get shots in at his brother while he could. Ham wouldn't dream of teasing Violet because she could without the pleasurable activities that had just be disrupted and he was not about to put himself in that position purposefully.

"I'll send you an owl on the shedding, is that it?" He questioned with a chuckle, thinking it was probably high time he go talk Violet of her ledge next.

Mac pulled a face, because hearing about Hammy having sex was actually really low on his priority list. Avoiding hearing about his brothers having sex was generally on his priority list. He made a mental note to never, ever burst into a room again. (Next time he popped in for a visit he'd just send the staff in, maybe.)

"Sounds good," Mac said. He (gently) punched his brother in the shoulder, pulled a face, grabbed his wand, and disapparated from right there in the hallway because after the conversation they had just had, he was pretty minimally concerned with niceties.
